What did everyone cook today?

For Mother’s Day my wife requested French Toast and bacon. Both of our adult sons made it in this weekend, so I added some Walton’s southern style sausage and made gravy and biscuits. Great start to Mother’s day for my lovely wife. It was a two plate breakfast. Bacon and sausage make everything better.

GWG8541 Now that’s a breakfast. Only need Grits to make it perfect. BTW we have that same china pattern. The one on the left

Chef the China you are referring to was my Mom and Dads. I lost both of them last year and none of the family wanted the every day China. I took it and combined it with some similar pieces I bought 30 plus years ago. It was only fitting to serve the wife’s breakfast on it this Mother’ Day. Its my second one without Mom and man do I miss her today. Dad taught me how to hunt and garden, but Mom taught me how to make all of that stuff taste good.

Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy and corn for Mother’s Day lunch. I used Chicken on the Run Breading and thier marinade. I also add some of Excalibur’s Nashville Hot Chicken seasoning to a few of the pieces and it was really good!

My mom would prepare a meal just like that every Sunday, when I was a kid. She always wore an apron over her church clothes, reminding me of Mayberry’s Aunt Bea.Jonesy those were good time gone by. Great memories. Sad some have not been as lucky as you or I.

GWG8541 That pattern was not my mother’s, but it is a beautiful pattern. We also use ours for everyday.
I do have my mother’s china. It was from Japan, just after the war. I gave my daughter her choice of the two when she got married 3 years ago. She chose my mother’s She loves to entertain in her college style apartment, tight fit, but she always breaks out the china and sends me a picture. I think she uses it more than my mother did. Similar to you, my dad taught me to rebuild an engine, my mom taught me how to place love in every meal I cook.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.

Well, just had to do a fast one today for Mother’s Day brunch with Chocolate Pecan Hotcakes (My wife likes Chocolate & Pecans), Potatoes Rancheros, & Scrambled Eggs Carnitas. Only I had to serve it all hot together & everyone gobbled it up fast so, sorry, no photos.

A little smoked prime rib for my wife, mother, and brother.

That looks great Tex_77, a true classic
Fried up some morels as an appetizer. Used cracker crumbs and butter. Can’t be beat!
Then fixed up some pork chops on the pellet grill and sweet potatoes. Used the Mrs’s new polish pottery pieces to serve (I add a piece or two to the collection every Mother’s Day).
