PapaSop I was just thinking you probably have some pretty cool signs/neons/etc that are probably taking up space in your warehouse, maybe you should donate some to Meatgistics for a live drawing give away!

We do and I’d love to but… Even those are being allocated. It’s trendy but bourbons are a hot commodity these days. I remember 10-15 years ago when names like Weller, Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace and on and on would sit and collect dust. Now, highly allocated and flying of the shelf.

PapaSop I wasn’t overly impressed with the Larceny I bought recently…good, not great. I’ll have to look for the Rebel Yell.

Agreed. The Larceny is ok at best. Does have a good price point.

PapaSop It’s tough to find Eagle Rare now a days. Have you ever had the Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream? My dad loves putting it on his ice cream!

Never tried it. We get 11 cases a month. Gone in two days. Always a back ordered item.

Just tried the Rebel Yell 100. Both neat and rocks. Was surprised that neat was very smooth for a 100 proof. Rocks was good as well. Although I don’t mix very often it would be good with ginger ale and a dash of bitters.

Also had a new product come in today. What caught my eye was that it’s from Washington State. Perhaps Joe Hell has heard of this. Woodinville bourbon whiskey.

PapaSop I’ve had woodinville many times buts it’s been a while. I even poured along side them at a wine & spirits event…those guys got me wasted! In another coincidence I was just looking at buying a bottle of the rebel yell 100 online but the shipping was nearly as much as the bottle. Hopefully I can find it tomorrow when I’m camping out for the Weller!

Nice. Good luck on the camp out. Lol. The Rebel is retailing at $20 give or take. Good price for a drinkable bourbon these days. The Woodinville is a bit higher price wise. Is it worth a taste?

PapaSop I think all Whiskey is worth a taste! If I remember correctly it was a very notable distiller (the name escapes me) that was a consultant when they started and pointed them in the right direction. Last time I had it the whiskey was very young. I’m sure the properly aged stuff is quite good.

Washington state consumers got screwed when Costco lobbied to take liquor sales away from state ran stores. Now we have a 50%+ tax on liquor and only large stores with x amount of sq ft can sell it unless you are in a very rural community. A half gallon of gut rot vodka will set you back $20 or more. Luckily Oregon is only a 10 minute drive where booze, cigarettes and gasoline are considerably cheaper.

May give it a go. They state on the label the grains are sourced from a family farm in Quincy.

Just reading your edit. WTH. Bad move on your states decision there. IMO.

PapaSop I believe there are some local breweries and distilleries using grain from the farm adjacent to the family farm which we harvest. I’ll try to find out who and update you!

One thing NY state has done right is mandating breweries/distillers use NY state hops and grains, something like 25% have to come from NY state. Actually helps the agriculture in NY. Pretty cool, I live 30 minutes south of Rochester but it’s a different world, pretty rural.

Parksider I agree with that philosophy. I think here in Washington that distilleries have to use at least 50% WA grown product in their production.

Jonathon s request, please list your drink of choice. I’ll start, I love bourbon and Coors Light or a good old Coors yellow belly. My bourbons of choice are Elijah Craig, Bulliet, Maker’s Mark, Jim Beam Black and W.L. Wellers. Now if I just want to pound down some drinks a good 7&7 can’t be beat.

Interested on your thoughts of the special reserve. We have 8 btls sitting in the warehouse on reservation. May have to convince our sales manager to let me buy one.
