So this coming Saturday I will be flying to Alaska for a fishing/sightseeing trip to Alaska. It is a trip with guys I played college football with. Some, I haven’t seen since 1997! Four guys from the starting offensive line are going and four defensive line guys are going along with our head coach who was also my O-line coach. We were a pretty tight group who all rode on the same bus for at least two seasons together. It will be an amazing trip. The O-line pictured had two Alaskans on the left, a Canadian in the middle, and two ND boys on the right (me in the solid red coat with the cheesy mustache and mullet). Words can’t even express how much I am looking forward to this trip!!! The guy in the far left in the picture is a fishing guide and he lined up the trip. He was even able to swing a deal to get us all booked at a 50% discount!!! We will fish for Halibut on the ocean and salmon in Kasilof River and possible the Kenai River. We will also be doing the Kenai Fjords tour. I can’t wait!

ND Mike good luck and have a great trip you lucky dog.

ND Mike Take a ton of picture please! I’m wanting to go in the next few years, I have always wanted to go and came fairly close to heading up there after high school instead of college.
Jonathon will do! The guy that lined this up asked me to come up fishing with him and his Dad back in 1994. His Dad was a commercial fisherman. I wasn’t able too because my Dad had too much work lined up. I probably never would’ve came back home had I went up there.

ND Mike I hope you have a great time, always good to get together with old friends. Never seems to happen enough.
bocephus that is for sure.

ND Mike That is amazing! Hope you have a safe & super enjoyable (& relaxing) trip. Good luck on catching a few of those barn doors so you can fry up some fish & chips.
calldoctoday yeah I can’t wait!

Tex_77 small NAIA school called Valley City State University. They are usually pretty tough in their conference and have made National Playoffs quite a few times.

ND Mike I did the same type of fishing in my 2 trips up there. That will be a blast. Then, you add the buds to the mix and holy moly you have a party. I guaranty you will live it. The Kenai blew me away because it’s only around 8 feet deep. Catching a 70 lb one in a flat bottom boat will gett your emotions rocking. The halibut is like pulling up a bathtub. Ok, I’m jealous.
zbigjeff thanks! It will be a blast. I don’t know what I’m more excited about. The fishing, the scenery, or seeing these guys again.

I hope you have a fantastic trip it is on my bucket list hope I last long enough to take the trip
gus4416 thanks. I hope you can do your trip sooner than later!

ND Mike “North to Alaska” , “we’re going North” “the rush is on!”

ND Mike You will have a good time up there, trust me. I have tickets to leave on 7/1 for the good tides in July this year. I normally go later when the Reds are running but the Halibut tides were not great later in July. I have relatives that live up there and they have 10 acres and 2 cabins near Ninilchik and friends that live on the Kenai, for red action. I believe this is my 20th trip up there. I have fished on the Kasilof for kings and that is a fun drift experience. Bring good rain gear, thermacell, and bug spray. The tractor launch at Deep Creek will be an experience. Plenty of youtube videos out there of some mishaps while loading up.
Spidey thanks for the info!

ND Mike I’ll see you on the Kenai about July 18th when the reds are at Soldotna. I’m the old guy on a fishing chain on the boardwalk at the bridge
Brianzipperdog123 unfortunately that is the day I will be leaving.
