So this coming Saturday I will be flying to Alaska for a fishing/sightseeing trip to Alaska. It is a trip with guys I played college football with. Some, I haven’t seen since 1997! Four guys from the starting offensive line are going and four defensive line guys are going along with our head coach who was also my O-line coach. We were a pretty tight group who all rode on the same bus for at least two seasons together. It will be an amazing trip. The O-line pictured had two Alaskans on the left, a Canadian in the middle, and two ND boys on the right (me in the solid red coat with the cheesy mustache and mullet). Words can’t even express how much I am looking forward to this trip!!! The guy in the far left in the picture is a fishing guide and he lined up the trip. He was even able to swing a deal to get us all booked at a 50% discount!!! We will fish for Halibut on the ocean and salmon in Kasilof River and possible the Kenai River. We will also be doing the Kenai Fjords tour. I can’t wait!

ND Mike I did the same type of fishing in my 2 trips up there. That will be a blast. Then, you add the buds to the mix and holy moly you have a party. I guaranty you will live it. The Kenai blew me away because it’s only around 8 feet deep. Catching a 70 lb one in a flat bottom boat will gett your emotions rocking. The halibut is like pulling up a bathtub. Ok, I’m jealous.

ND Mike You will have a good time up there, trust me. I have tickets to leave on 7/1 for the good tides in July this year. I normally go later when the Reds are running but the Halibut tides were not great later in July. I have relatives that live up there and they have 10 acres and 2 cabins near Ninilchik and friends that live on the Kenai, for red action. I believe this is my 20th trip up there. I have fished on the Kasilof for kings and that is a fun drift experience. Bring good rain gear, thermacell, and bug spray. The tractor launch at Deep Creek will be an experience. Plenty of youtube videos out there of some mishaps while loading up.

Brianzipperdog123 I know right where you are talking about. I have fished by the visitor center a few times and there is a few great drifts there and below along Centennial. Most of the time we fish in the Sterling area about a half mile south of Moose River confluence on some private. No crowds and very peaceful.
