Also for anyone in Wichita or this area I really liked the guys from range 54 last night. They didn’t have to give me full credit for the rifle I didn’t want but they did and even with that they honored a sale price that was active when I talked to them about it on friday. They were helpful, this is the first gun I have bought that was not through waltons ffl and they made it super easy and fun

So, went and picked up my gun last night. They had a sale on a savage arms 6.5 Creedmoor with a scope so I got credit for the 10/.22 breakdown and bought this. Not the.fanciest gun in the world but it’ll do what I need!

I think you will be very pleased with the performance of that Savage rifle.
IF you do your part, it will do it’s job while you are out hunting or on the range. What kind of scope came on it? As was mentioned by others, you don’t want to skimp on the quality of your rifle scope.
It sounds like the folks at Range 54 treated you well.

Jonathon Awesome! 6.5 is a very versatile round for hunting in our area. A great round for predators and deer, I also know of some elk and black bear that have been taken with that round. A good choice of caliber!

So, I went to the PF/QF banquet last night and won a gun, FINALLY! Now, it was not the gun that I wanted to win but it was the gun that I was able to afford entry into the contest to win! It is a Ruger 10/22 with a synthetic stock, I have to pick it up at Range 54 in Wichita. I am hoping they will be willing to give me at least the majority of the price of the .22 off of something like:
this https://shop.range54.com/rifles/bolt-action-rifles/bergara-b14s522-65crd-ridge-wldrnss-tb-syn
or this https://shop.range54.com/rifles/bolt-action-rifles/savage-57055-10110-storm-bolt-300-winchester-magnum-24-31-accufit-gray-stk-stainless-steelJonathon that ruger 10/22 is a rock solid reliable gun.

Jonathon that rifle will serve you well and as processhead said have good optics. That caliber will reach out, the challenging part right now is finding ammo. Practice with what you shoot, reloading will give you more options.

Jonathon - That’s a good one.

processhead it is a sig saur Buckmaster. I don’t know much about scopes but it seems like a decent one and I at least am familiar with the brand.
-
Now you can really reach out and touch someone with that

Jonathon Your going to have fun with that rifle. Good caliber and Savage has made great strides in the bolt gun world in the past decade.

Jonathon Nice looking set up, now get to the range and get to know it. One bit of advice, always shoot before a hunt never assume that it is still sighted in.

Update…we have some serious oddness with this rifle. I will talk about it on the podcast and then update everyone when it finally gets figured out but all is not as it seems to be and someone (not me) might have made a rather large mistake. Could be a large bank error in my favor…that PatrickB is called a teaser

Dr_Pain Not me! For once I didn’t make the mess!
-
I’m guessing this is 2x what the 10/22 would have been worth. Id’ say you REALLY won this time.
