GWG8541 Who would have ever thought that $3.49 was a good buy for one of the most poor cuts of meat.
An old man can dream. Remember brisket for $0.99 and on special for $0.79 - it wasn’t that long ago.
I did find brisket at my local Walmart - $1.97. Ungraded, but then again smoking for as long as we do for brisket, most people wouldn’t know the difference.
Chef brisket flats here are approaching $10/lb, butts $3.49 and steaks $15+/lb. I can drive 2+hrs to my processor and save a bundle buying in bulk.

jh4_htx I dislike Kroger but maybe for this Ill get some pork butts. My local one is such a freaking joke in the meat selection compared to H-E-B. Thankfully I live in the middle of a Kroger and H-E-B, each of them 1 mile away from my house.

Ground jerky here I come!I went to Costco yesterday to pick up a pork belly to make bacon. Pork belly was $4.49 a pound and Costco’s name brand bacon was $4.19 a pound. Thats just crazy. The hunt continues for a decent priced pork belly.
