What does everyone do for a profession?

calldoctoday it’s still very nice here. It is a great place to live. Been here my whole life and don’t plan on leaving. Thanks so much for asking and have a great evening.
cdavis Grain farmer & contract hog finisher in central Illinois. Between whitetail harvest & a few hogs that dont make it to market, i am usually exprimenting with how to make it into sausage.

calldoctoday your memory serves you well. We still have the railroad one of the few left around here. The conveyor belt you saw brings us rock and shale from our quarry. It’s 7 miles long and until a few years ago it was the longest conveyor in the world. I’m sad to say Martin’s meat market closed 3 years ago. It was a great place to get awesome sausages of all kinds. And part of the reason I am here learning to make my own. Thanks to you and everyone else on here for all the help.

cdavis Well, that is amazing to hear these days (my memory). That was one long conveyor belt. I wanted to say it was several miles long, but did not want to sound like I was exaggerating or something or had lost my mind for certain, so I refrained. You confirmed it for me though. I am very sorry to hear about Martins. They had some great stuff & had been around for a long time. Have a great evening, what little is left of it & thanks for bringing back those fond memories of Ada, Oklahoma.

calldoctoday I’m amazed you remembered so much about a place from 20 years ago. I’m working a 12 hour night shift tonight and was glad to hear from you.

cdavis Well, I am certain I have left out a number of things, but it is easy to remember a place & assignment that I enjoyed so much. Of course, on the other hand, I seem to be able to remember things better from 40 years ago or more than five minutes ago. Don’t work too hard tonight. Dave

I’m always curious what everyone does for a profession in these groups. It is always cool to see how diverse we are. I am a State Trooper and have been since 2007. Prior to that I worked many years in home construction and taught second grade right out of college.
@ndmike
Hi great post. Thank you for your public service. I worked as an aircraft mechanic, then building maintenance mechanic for 40 plus years, now retired. -
I worked for a railroad for 30 yrs. I worked my way up to a Signal Supervisor and retired with the title of Project Manager for a major project called East Side Access. My screen name for many BBQ sites is Retired RailRoader. I use my name here since I watch all of Walton’s Livestreams and Podcasts on YouTube and if I should win anything on Walton’s it’s just easier to say I’m here on the Libestream.

@NDMike I know that we’ve already talked in another post but I’m a Fire Lieutenant in the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire.

Thanks for the support from everybody. It means a lot to everybody who wears the blue (even though we wear brown…hahaha!)

I served in the USMC from 1966-1970 then work R&D for GE HealthCare in Milwaukee. Moved to Colorado and worked for Toshiba and Panasonic as a field service rep for 32 years. Got laid of at 56 years of age in 2004! Started a new career with the City of Aurora, Colorado in 2006 working in the Water Dept. PIO office division of Water Conservation. I am now retired for 7 years; everyday is Saturday! Love Walton’s and the entire Meatgistics community. Hope to be able to move back to Wisconsin (Up North!) this coming year or so.

After High School I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. In 1986 I was lucky enough to join Dayton PD and did 32 years as a LEO. I retired as the Violent Crimes Bureau Commander. I’m now working in the private sector doing police/security training for a large Healthcare network. Life is good.
