My Appeal to Walton
-
Meatgistics has become my social media. I very rarely go on FB anymore. I hate all the negativity on there. I like coming here because I can escape from that. Here, people help each other out and we all have some similar hobbies and likes. I really look forward to the podcasts and the livestreams. I am so glad I found this place!
@ndmike I mostly visit FB for the cooking, bourbon and ethnic sites I belong to (ethnic Slovenian cooking, Italian, General and 2 sausage sites and a site I take of for a group that I’ve been on the board for over 30 years-Slovenianhome.com). I’ve had it with all the crazies out there on the general FB page and all of the censoring. But, the specific sites I visit stay totally away from any of that nonsense. On this site, there’s a bunch of good old fashioned healthy jabbing and some very good thoughts on how to make my schtuff tantalize the taste buds.

I just do not particularly care for social media & never have for the most part. However, there is nothing to not like about Walton’s, Meatgistics, & the Neighborhood, it is simply amazing as far as I am concerned. However, I never really considered Walton’s Meatgistics Neighborhood, social media somehow. It is more about learning & seeing amazing things done! Lots of learning the right stuff at the right price.

zbigjeff my reasons for FB as well.

@ndmike Not sure I understand???
-
as I have said before this platform is successful because it is topic specific and not random venting’s from anyone who wants to !
-
Chef it was in reference to a reply to me. It was basically why we aren’t on FB much anymore. Too much negativity and controlling only what they want posted.

We all came here for a reason. That reason never takes second place. It’s all about doing, sharing and helping each other achieve what brought us here in the first place.
Are we social? Absolutely. It just doesn’t dominate.
I’ll say that word again…
“Community”

PapaSop well said! I couldn’t agree with you more!!!

Austin Jonathon I know that this community is focused on meat processing and having a lot of fun along the way. I have so enjoyed this community, both from an education as well as a friendly entertainment standpoint. I Pray that this post does not cause problems in the community, one which I an so proud to be part of.
Recent decisions from Facebook and Twitter have resulted in me evaluating their social media platforms. I can no longer support their positions and I will remove myself from both. There are many companies that I do not support and carefully screen those that I do business with. I will not support companies that contribute to causes that violate my my value systems.
Respectively, I ask that Walton’s withdraw from Twitter and Facebook. Their platform is no longer friendly to what I believe the Walton’s and Meatgistics community value system supports. I may be 100% wrong, but I will no longer follow Walton’s nor Meatgistics on Facebook or Twitter.
I appreciate your consideration in this matter. I am 100% a Walton’s supporter as well as a proud member of Meatgistics. I’ll always will be.

Departing Contestant Sometimes the issue at hand is never addressed and is still an issue. Meatgistics is a place that we can safely state things and it’s okay for us to agree or disagree, but we are not going to censor things. We respece each other.
We, as a group, we like meat, meat processing, gardening, cooking, and the list goes on and on. We accept the prespectives of those that are vegan, and while not necessarily agreeing with their their position, we respect it.
I, for one, do not appreciate being censored for my values, opinions, or positions. My original post was not political, but rather a defence of Meatgistics and Waltons. Can you immagine a site like facebook, twitter, whatever censoring us becauce we like meat. This is not an unrealistic fear, we should all see what is happening around the world.
Too many of the Meatgistics family have fought and given much to insure our opinion not be censored. I only posted the original posting to respect them and encourage all of us to realize just what is taken place in America.

PapaSop And I agree, we are a community that I am proud to be part of.

So, interestingly I was looking through this because I was looking for a comment I saw this weekend about someone losing their order history and I was going to see if I could help with that but I got caught up by an older comment by ND Mike where he said Meatgistics has become is preferred social media. I have spent a LOT of time recently thinking about that, Austin was smart enough to know that the content couldn’t live without the community and the community wouldn’t have formed without the content. I honestly thoguth of the community as a fun thing that we could occasionally post on, in the last few years that has changed and the community has grown and grown. It has without a doubt been one of the most rewarding parts of my professional career.
And, if anyone knows the post I am talking about let me know! Actually I think I just figured it out. Sorry guys, Saturday was a long day and the wife and I surprisgnly drank once we got home from the event as well so things are…a bit hazy!

This is weird, was kind of thinking the same thing today when I logged on. I usually check in every day but missed yesterday. Typical day is, giveaway page, enter and go to Meatgistics’s to check the unread. Today was a record, at least on my end. 38 unread… In just 24 hours… Wow! Nearly four years ago it was three or four.
From what Austin envisioned, and what Jonathon and crew have done to take this to the next level is incredible.
Community strong!
Sorry… Couldn’t find a gray hat. LOLGlad to be a part of.

PapaSop Yes, I think there have indeed been a number of records set here lately! Amazing.

Jonathon I don’t even know if social media is the right word really. This place is more of a Brotherhood. I really enjoy the banter and the the fact that everyone is quick to help each other! I think this experiment called Meatgistics can be called a huge success!!!

ND Mike funny thing is I talk about you guys to other people, and they think your people who live around me or work with me. I say no, I met them on a meat site and now they are my friends, and not like friends on the fb.
