calldoctoday With nine grandkids it’s a battle to who gets what. It’s first come first serve when they come out and pick a pumpkin out. All of the three granddaughters that are all 11 always want the biggest one, the youngest of those three managed to get here first this time and pick out the big one.

calldoctoday The post are done right because I had to do them myself after the contractor walked away when I confronted him about how he didn’t do them right first time. Had to dig and pour 12 piers and replaced all the posts along with re-leveling the roof that was 1 1/4" lower from side to side. I ended up suing him for his bond. Thanks for the compliment, most people don’t even notice except my friend who is a structural engineer and did the engineering.

johnsbrewhouse Thanks, lot’s more on Sunday this week. Wish we could get some of that cool weather down here though, still in the low 90’s & 80’s with 300% humidity. Dropped down into the 60’s for just a few days, just a tease, a few weeks ago. Have a great weekend, enjoy them grand kids.

Frozen morning here this morning. Had a hard freeze at 28 degrees. Covered the pepper plants yesterday along with what’s left of the tomatoes. So much for the squash’s and two pumpkins that were left. I’ll be out today pulling plants and putting them in the compost bin and putting the raised beds to bed for winter.

Canned homemade pizza sauce this morning. I dont grow tomatoes tho, so I start with canned store bought puree.

kyle I can mine in the same size jars and the club stores sell the sauce for less than you can produce it yourself ,just taste to find the salt content some are more than others , if it is to salty I use lemon juice to equalize it

craigrice I got the recipe from a buddy who used to own a bar. When he bought the bar, he had to pay for the recipe from the previous owner. The place was known for its pizza. Since I started making it, store bought sauce just dont cut it anymore. Buying the puree is just so much easier and cheap

wdaly I am going to try canning taters this weekend. I was going to use the recipe out of the ball blue book. You boil them for like 10 minutes, hot pack them with water and salt, process for 40 minutes at I think 10 pounds. Does that sound about right? Or do you have a better way

I do mine about the same way. I put my cut taters in water, put it on the stove and apply the heat. Once the water comes to a boil, I boil for two minutes then go back to the Ball book. Just like packing the jars with a little sturdier potato. I’m about 3500 feet so I pressure cook at 12#.

wdaly do they soften up then after processing. I think it would be nice to just heat them up and eat them for a quick meal camping or at the hunting shack

kyle They do soften up but are still pretty versatile. I like having canned items to take in the camper to save refrigerator room. These make great potato soup or fried potatoes.

kyle I had a jar of the potatoes that didn’t seal. Does them in the fridge overnight and made potato salad this morning. I like my potatoes in salad too still have a firm bite. These were just right. The nice thing is how fast it is to make tater salad when the taters are already done.

kyle I had a jar of the potatoes that didn’t seal. Does them in the fridge overnight and made potato salad this morning. I like my potatoes in salad too still have a firm bite. These were just right. The nice thing is how fast it is to make tater salad when the taters are already done.

wdaly if they are firm, i’m thinking they would be good fried taters. Thanks
