Just a heads up fellow caners, some stores in my area have name brand canning lids on the shelves now. Yes the prices are higher and they have a limit of one, but they are there

The wife picked up a bunch today, and by the way my 15L fermenting crock arrived yesterday. Now just waiting for my cabbage to mature and I’ll be making some kraut, again thanks buddy.

Tex_77 that’s my favorite recipe…love them with philly cream cheese and at times add them to “egg bites” that I make using sous vide.

I grow indoors during the winter using an AeroGarden hydroponic system. Mostly growing herbs for fresh cooking and dehydrating. I planted a tomato some weeks ago and moved to a soil pot. These were some cuttings I took from it and a basil cutting. They have rooted nicely and will be a nice kick-start for my summer garden. I’ll be starting the rest of my seeds soon using the hydroponic garden.

Gettin the beds ready. My seeds were hit or miss this year so may be buying some plants but we’ll see. Lettuce, arugula, and mustard greens direct sown doing ok.

Pulled some “weeds” out of the garden today. Got me thinking because what I was removing was all foragable plants. Chickweed, purple dead nettle, etc. Anyone else on here do any foraging? Recently tried some trout Lilly which was great. Also a big fan of Japanese knotweed. Also reminded me how I would like to try my hand at some mushrooms. Maybe this year. Thinking of doing logs but may start with a bun and take it from there.

“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.”
