People must be stocking up on beverages as well. Crazy busy this past week. Shipped every case of Everclear in the warehouse with back orders piling up. I guess folks are making a homemade hand sanitizer.

Joe Hell I went to Sams club this morning to pickup some pork butts to make pulled pork my wife has been begging for, and they had pretty much empty fridges and freezers everywhere. Chicken is left, and a few more expensive beef cuts, but that was it. I had to beg the guy at the counter to look for more pork butts in the back and get me a handful of them. Seems like meat is getting to be in pretty short supply.

Austin I have some pork butts I would sell you! Dodge City was completely out of fresh chicken last night. I saw a friend of mine buy some Prime Ribeye rolls from Sam’s for like $9 a pound beef is getting cheap.

Austin I heard that local stores were essentially out of meat and completely out of toilet paper last weekend. The restaurant around the corner mentioned that a customer stole all of the toilet paper from their bathroom cabinet. That would explain the huge increase in business for us. I’m feeling very grateful working in a place that will also feed me. I’m picking up a rack of ribs today just in case. With all of the bars closing and limited restaurant service in Washington state I’d imagine that we will continue selling at a high rate this week. Hopefully our suppliers can still ‘meat’ our demand but I have a feeling all of their customers will be stocking up as well.

These are strange times we are living in.

Joe Hell I hoard year round, just for these situations. I think one of my Facebook friends said it best, if you have a Sam’s Club/Costco membership and you didn’t already have a 3 month supply of toilet paper, you aren’t doing something right.

this surge is good for business now but when people are stocked up and staying at home everything will come to a grinding halt !

Joe Hell Hey Joe we went to an old stand but since Smart Food Service is having such a hard time. Restaurant Depot, got to have a business license to shop there, which we just happen to. My boys went there Sunday, lots of meat and most of everything else. They found pork loin for $1.30 lb. Don’t know if they have one in Walla Walla or maybe the Tri Cities, you might check them out if you can use the license from the shop

Someone in my wife’s MBA group works for Cargill and I was talking to him yesterday, so they are going nuts with stores buying so much beef and restaurants trying to return huge amounts. He said without the returns from restaurants there might be a shortage.

As long as trucks keep rolling, there will be a steady supply of beef. It’s the people who don’t have freezer’s full of meat who are going to be in trouble if this continues.

Jonathon after a morning rush it’s almost a ghost town. We are the only business open for a few blocks. This street would normally be almost impossible to find a parking spot

Joe Hell How many confirmed cases are there in your town? Wichita has a few. I really hope everyone is being smart about this. Don’t go panic-buy a bunch of stuff BUT if you have some extra sure cure hold on to that stuff and start thinking about making some cured food products for long term storage!

Jonathon I think there has only been one confirmed case admitted to our hospital but he wasn’t from Walla Walla. The man could potentially have exposed many people as he works at a casino about 40 minutes from here and also attended a youth basketball game where he collapsed and paramedics were called. He was then taken to our local hospital.

Joe Hell I think that’s what scaring people the most, the fact that 1 person can infect so many people before they are symptomatic. I told my older neighbor yesterday that if she needs anything at all to call me and I will take care of it but if it’s like food or meds or something she needs I will drop it off on her doorstep, I told her no more face to face contact for while which sucks cause my dogs LOVE this lady and she lives alone so I don’t think she gets to see a lot of people.

It seems like if you aren’t over 70 or don’t have a pre-existing condition it is just slightly worse than the regular flu.

Starting to look similar around here. Not quite that bad though. Wi just shuttered all bars and restaurants late yesterday afternoon. We are only delivering off premise accounts. Office staff has been sent home with their computers to work from there. Strange times.

Joe Hell my friend who is an ICU nurse in Seattle posted this a little bit ago, “I’m putting out a call to anyone who has N95 masks or PPE they’re willing to part with. Our hospitals are critically low.” You better just head for the hills!

Tex_77 It’s becoming worrisome. It will be an especially hard hit to the restaurant/hospitality industry. We will be donating as much as possible to keep people fed. This is bad.
