Well, my large fridge curing chamber kicked the bucket so it went off to the dump. I have Capicola ready to go in tomorrow so I had to quickly throw something together. So, on to Craigslist and found a mini fridge to cut holes in. I guess this will work for now. Holding temp and humidity for the last 4 hours. 20200125_161516-907x1612.jpg 20200125_161523-907x1612.jpg

Picked up a cheap and very used but also very small deep freezer yesterday. Got me thinking if anyone has used a deep freezer to make a curing chamber? I would use the same inkbird, humidifier, and fan setup as any other but would be loaded from the top instead of the side like a fridge. I’d have to add rails to the sides for the rods the meat hangs from to sit on.

Ridley Acres said in Curing Chamber:

deep freezer to make a curing chamber

Dr_Pain what are your thoughts on using small deep freezer with the typical temp/humid controller for meat curing chamber?

Ridley Acres I think they are just fine. They have better insulation and better refrigerant/cooling lines. You will have to be careful where you put your hole for your power to your humidifier/dehumidifier. Other than that you are in business
