Just tried this one today. It’s called Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. Couldn’t locate anyone else posting on this beauty. The brand was started by an emancipated slave who taught Jack Daniel how to distill product. It was a full tasting oakey smooth whiskey or bourbon that’s aged 7 years with a long lasting taste. We had 2 large pours just to make sure it was as good the second time. Then, went out and bought a bottle for the arsenal.

GWG8541 I understand it has a good following in our state. Shouldn’t be a problem to locate. Happy hunting. Yep, it was nicely woody.

zbigjeff I first tried that here in Colorado about the first of the Year. Loved it. It’s smooth and has a great finish (the wife even liked it!). Also the story about Uncle Nearest is very interesting. Time for me to get another bottle!

Bob Stehlik I’m glad you enjoy that particular nectar. There are many in my arsenal I can sip at any time. Just added this one to it. Have a good rest of your day.

Bob Stehlik zbigjeff if you have taken the tour at JD, they tell the story. Im a big fan if many Tennessee whiskeys and like collecting JD memorabilia. If you ever get the chance, I highly suggest taking the tour, whether you like the product or not, its a great educational and historical part of our great country.

GWG8541 No I haven’t taken that tour. Our little tasting group of 10 people were planning a 2 week trip for May 2020. Yep, that didn’t happen. Still on the list. But, first things first. Get this hip ready for standing and walking in the future. Then, we’re off to the races.

craigrice That thought will be wandering around between my ears probably in the 2nd week. There’s always a positive to every situation. Sometimes, a person has to look very far for THAT positive. I looked back at how I got in this situation and thought: You’ve got this. Hopefully, I can pull it from that old gut one more time. 🙂

@ndmike It gets like that some days. The worst I suppose is when they happen & you realize the pantry’s bare. That will take you to a whole nother level.

I made a Gold Rush with a twist. I added some fresh mint. It seems to be a great summer drink.

                                • 1 part fresh lemon juice
                                • 1 part honey simple syrup
                                • 2.5 parts of bourbon
                                • two mint leaves
                                • lemon peel

Put in a shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Pour in a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge and sprig of mint.
The wife is not a whiskey drinker, but really liked this. It’s mostly whiskey and goes down way to easy.
