What did everyone cook today?

Prime Rib on the smoker right now. Found two small roasts in the freezer and decided I better use them. Hopefully I’ll be able to eat them with the fresh corn and cauliflower, woke up with back pain on one side. Hoping it’s not another kidney stone, I usually end up in the E/R then the O/R with a stint since I go sepsis so fast. I tried to stay hydrated during the hot weather. Feels like my back acting up. We’ll see if I end up with a fever, either way the Prime is going to get cooked!
johnsbrewhouse Got to determine what type of stone.
I caught one in a strainer and found out it was a uric acid stone, easy to treat with allopurinol
I haven’t had another one in 10 years. It also eliminated occasional severe knee pain -
Update, I ended up in the ER for 5 hours, they found I have a small pulmonary embolism is my right lung. I got home after midnight with blood thinners on board. Apparently, knee replacements and back surgeries have upped my chances of getting one. If you ever find that you have back pain and it hard to breath then it begins to radiate, hit the ER. I guess I will have several appointment this week. I did get the prime rib off the smoker, but didn’t have any, the wife and kid did. They enjoyed it.
Hurts to breathe deep right now, but getting it under control. Thanks for all the concerns and well wishes!
Johnjohnsbrewhouse I wish you well

Pork tenderloin x2. One Asian style, one rubbed and wrapped (but bacon all fell off while cooking). And a Portabella mushroom steak in the grill pan as an afterthought.

Tex_77 where do you come up with all the ideas of the things you cook? You always seem to have “fancy” food with side dishes I would never think of.
kyle hours of watching youtube/food network/cooking channel etc. I also have tons of cookbooks. I consider very little of what I cook fancy, but thanks for the compliment.

Johnjohnsbrewhouse Glad you got the help you needed. Embolisms are no small thing. Take care of yourself and mend quickly.

Tex_77 well deserved. I am a big fan of diners, drive-ins, and dives myself. I keep a note book by my chair and take notes… my wife thinks I’m a dork
kyle Triple D is definitely a place to pick up ideas and improve your creativity and enhance your adventures with food. I’ve tried several things with different spices or herbs as well as learning a ton of things about regional and different ethnic styles of cooking and food preparation. Andrew Z. and Marcus Samuelson also expose some good ideas from different locales and regions. So in summary you are not alone in your search for something new and different.

I haven’t had another one in 10 years. It also eliminated occasional severe knee painglen Last stone and only swirl took a ride down the porcelain slide right after the stint. I’m on Uloric for the uric acid problem, been on it for a number of years. Doc told me it was due to dehydration from not drinking enough water. Haven’t had a stone since.

Amazing. Love some good chimichurri. The big question is, Cilantro or parsley only? I know traditional is just parsley, but sometimes that cilantro twist is nice. Either way looks delicious! Enjoy. -

Bob Stehlik Triple D is definitely great inspiration
Having said that I talked my wife into going to a triple D restaurant on two separate trips and tried a featured dish at each place, total disappointment, was nothing like the show, half the size, dry with little flavor
Now when I am watching and she comes into the room she rolls her eyes and says never again. LOL -

Now when I am watching and she comes into the room she rolls her eyes and says never again. LOLglen The wife and I rarely go out to eat. We prefer to cook and eat at home; #1, You can cook to your individual taste and use some creativity; #2 the portions are tailored more to our liking and you get left overs! Now don’t get me wrong, when we go on vacation or on a road trip we will try an area restaurant upon recommendations from people in the area.
