Jonathon so there are a few of us on here that find the heading of this post as a term of endearment. He must be one heck of a dog! Bob Stehlik you may have to explain this one for him. Start at Tun Tavern

Yeah, the bad thing is I adore him too much so he KNOWS he will never get gotten rid of. One day he was hurt and couldn’t stand up an I WAS A MESS…he uses all of this to his advantage to get away with his mental abuse of me!

Jonathon a little bit. One of the many nicknames for Marines. We got our nickname Devil Dogs from official German reports which called the Marines at Belleau Wood Teufel Hunden. It has been said that this nickname came about from Marines being ordered to take a hill occupied by German forces while wearing gas masks as a precaution against German mustard gas. While the Marines fought their way up the hill, the heat caused them to sweat profusely, foam at the mouth and turned their eyes bloodshot, and at some points the hill was so steep it caused the Marines to climb up it on all fours. From the Germans’ vantage point, they witnessed a pack of tenacious, growling figures wearing gas masks, with bloodshot eyes and mouth foam seeping from the sides, advancing up the hill, sometimes on all fours, killing everything in their way. As the legend goes, the German soldiers, upon seeing this spectacle, began to yell that they were being attacked by Teufel Hunden “dogs from hell.” AKA Devil Dogs!

I am sure he is in the dog house right now, but in spite of that, I hope that he didn’t ingest any carbon fibers or get them imbedded in his mouth. Could be bad news if that happened.

samspade I’m sure the Marines attacking that position didn’t feeling like Devil Dogs with gas masks on and going hand to hand, but as long as the Germans thought that, its all good.

I’m glad mine just takes the stuff outside anymore and leaves it for me to find. He used to chew it up until we started putting it into his mouth and making him carry it back to the house. It’s worked so far and giving him a treat before we leave.
