My Alaska trip.

I’m sitting at the airport in Chicago after flying a redeye flight from Anchorage. Alaska is an amazing place. I will post more later after I get some sleep. Jonathon, yes we saw brown bears! We actually had a young male about 10 feet from our boat fishing salmon. I represented some Walton’s gear too while I was on the Kenai Fjords tour. I snapped a selfie at a glacier.
ND Mike Can’t wait to hear the updates and highlights! Leaving on 7/1 for my trip and it has been a couple of years since I made the trip there. My uncle sent this pic of a young bull that has been bedding in his yard at his cabin.

ND Mike I thought the Kenai was some huge river when I was taken there. But, low and behold it was not that wide and only about 8-10 foot deep. There was a number of animals feasting at that river. The guide and guy I knew had some fun with the newbie as they took the boat with my back to the shore and nestled up to a moose and her young. She tapped me on my shoulder and I reacted as one would think. Yep, they had their fun scaring the heck out of me. Oh, the memories. Glad you had a good time.

ND Mike Glad you had a memorable trip, but everyone I have talked to who has gone to Alaska has said it is something they will never forget. Need up date on the fishing.
bocephus I will tomorrow when I have time. I’m at an all day softball tourney watching my nieces today. It was definitely a place and time I will never forget!

So where to start? The first day was a super long day of travel. We flew from Fargo, ND to Chicago, Chicago to Seattle, Seattle to Anchorage. Spent about 10 hours on planes, I can’t remember how many layover hours, then a 3 hour drive from Anchorage to Kenai. We were pretty tired when we got there. The next day was a recover day hanging out at the cabins and visiting with the Alaskan guys I played football with.
The first adventure we did was fish for Halibut. We went out of Ninilchik. The seas were pretty rough we were in 6 foot rollers. On our boat 2 people got sick and on the other boat 4 people were sick. Both boats limited out but the Halibut were all small.
All in all a fun trip but also my least favorite thing we did. Part 2 will come tomorrow.
