Austin I am 100% down for this, obviously, I will have to shoot with mine a bit first though! On a related note I had an enormous victory yesterday. My wife and I were talking and she said “what was the small pistol that (a friend of ours) had when we went shooting” It was a .38 glock and when I asked her why and she said that “all the news about shootings recently has me thinking I don’t want to be unable to defend myself” I cried in pride and we are now pricing .38s for her! All of my 2A subliminal messaging with her has started to pay off!
Jonathon After you get the gun, be sure to get extra ammunition and get out and get your wife familiar with the gun. Only problem I see is if she is like my wife, you will be doing less shooting and more loading of magazines.

bocephus Our friend had an AR and an FN SCAR and she wasnt interested in shooting either, she did put about 50 rounds through that little glock .38 though. I am still hopeful, having her want her own hand gun is a HUGE step!

Jonathon When I was dating my wife and first married my wife wouldn’t touch a gun, now she owns a few and loves to shoot. If you are interested in seeing her shoot more try a 22 rifle, my wife has a 10/22 and absolutely loves it, my sister in law shot it when visiting and then my brother had to buy her one and still blames me.

Jonathon It’s an easy build and after you do 1 you will be up to 4 like me in pretty short order. Also, don’t be surprised if it jams a few times at first; it always seems like I need to put 50-100 rounds thru it before it truly worked great. And, lots of ammo can go thru it pretty fast, leaving you wondering how your out of ammo already!

Im still stumped on what Glock Jonathon is talking about and I have been a Glock armorer for about 30 years.

Chief Wurstner’s family donated the gun to Dayton History and even included a copy of the Jewelry shop receipt when it was engraved for Chief Wurstner. The last time I visited, the gun was still on display at Carillon Historical Park. processhead Yes, confusion, it is a .380 like this, she detests shooting my 9mm thinking it has too much kick so the .380 is a nice option for her.
bocephus I’ve tried to get her to shoot my .22 magnum henry lever action and she has had no interest, BUT I am hoping that changes once she has her own gun. This is such a huge change in opinion for her and makes me really happy! Sometimes I dont know how I come off when I talk about my wife cause I do things like intentionally use an annoying voice when I am imitating her (which sounds nothing like her) or make her out to be a robot but I love her fiercely and am always super proud of her but maybe not ever as much as when she said she wanted to be able to protect herself if she ever got into a bad situation.
I think she (and lots of other people) are seeing that they can’t rely on the authorities, or anyone else to either be there or do anything to save them when you are in danger, you have to be able to save yourself. To some people that means a firearm and to some people it means jujitsu. In general, running away is almost always the best option in a fight but it isn’t always an option.

This will let your wife learn to shoot from people that are able to see and quickly identify problems and correct them before they become habits. Your wife will also get to shoot a number of different firearms in different configurations. That little Glock 43 might turn into something completely different by the end of the class.
My Loving and long suffering wife and my 2 daughters are shooters. My Eldest was the Women’s National Collegiate air pistol champion and a 2 time All American in women’s air pistol and a 2 time All American in Women’s Sport Pistol. Her name is the first to appear on the Melaragno Trophy https://competitions.nra.org/media/8193/tro-170-melaragno.pdf . I did not teach any of the 3 to shoot. I found instructors for them.
