21st Anniversary. Wife said she would rather eat my cooking at home, so I cancelled the steakhouse and got cooking!

Tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, avocado in balsamic vinegar and olive oil
              20220526_205209.jpg

Scallops, seared with a brown butter dill gewurtztraminer deglaze reduction.
With my own cold smoked salmon.20220526_205201.jpg

NY Strip steak, with grilled zucchini and asparagus, sauteed green beans, and rosemary roasted red potatoes. With bernaise sauce. Steak was sous vide to 128 then hickory smoked at 150 then reverse seared.
              20220526_205205.jpg
All served with a cabernet sauvignon. I even remembered to get flowers and card!

Here are some well overpriced rib steaks, but still delicious (just don’t get them even close to as often) smoked with Pecan & Mesquite, then reverse seared.1aaecf81-a2ce-48ce-8806-91ea4078f821-Labor Day Weekend 2022 Steak Dinner I.jpg served with some grilled asparagus and baked taters with home made sour cream & cheese, and some of Andy’s nice home made French Baguettes.81384afc-2c7d-43f8-baaa-4439dc71be9a-Labor Day Weekend 2022 French Baguettes.jpg Of course it all had to be washed down with a little Red Wine & then I had to be sweetened up with some Peach Overboard, Peachy, Peach Ice Cream. Whooo, fit for a king, but enough for a weekend.

gus4416 Thank you, we really appreciate it & yes, it was very good, even if overpriced, but still better priced than Peter Fleming’s & a whole lot more relaxing & enjoyable, not to mention that in my most humble opinion, just as tasty. I will let Andy know that his bread is still looking good. Yes, we like those irons & have had them for years & years. Heat them up slowly for an hour or so before serving & they will keep your meat hot. Nothing worse than a cold steak.

zbigjeff Thank you, I really appreciate it. However, if you are not going for that beef, you are really missing something as it was out of this world & perfect, although the thinner one may have been just a little too much on the medium side vs what we like as the perfect medium rare. You should try some of that homemade sour cream sometime. It really out does the grocery store. It is unbelievable the difference in taste, if you like sour cream. Thank you again & I am glad you like them irons too. It is real nice putting them irons in the fire to heat them up a bit & then having them keep the meat hot.

calldoctoday I always notice different first. Since you seem to snare some very nice cuts, it’s a standard. I love sour cream. Never even attempted homemade. Will have to look for the “how to” and go from there. I just love the “bite” of a good sour cream.
