bocephus That was my sister-in-laws. I have the same roaster, but did not know there were liners for them. I use liners in my crock pot.

bocephus mrobisr if you ever have a pan that has baked on food, put a dryer sheet and water in it and let it soak an hour or so. The baked on food will wipe right out. We keep a baggie of our used dryer sheets in the kitchen at all times. I know it sounds funny, but it really works

Boy, this conversation went around the bend a couple of times. By the way my Grandfather lived in a little community called Clear Springs, MO. He was a jack of all trades and had a store and black smith shop. He also ran a still and made moonshine. Here in my little corner of Idaho New Year’s day was cold -4 degrees for the low and 19 for the high. The patio had about 1 1/2" of ice on it. Getting to the smokers was done to the tune of “Slip Sliding Away”. I didn’t spend much time outside when I put the ham on. I had planned on glazing it toward the end but blew that off. The oven was full of “Funeral potatoes”, ginger carrots, and cornbread. The blackeyed peas and spinach were on the stove top. We live right in the middle of the fruit orchard area and make lots of jam. I had planned on glazing the ham with a peach, jalapeno, and tequila jam (yes it was great on the corn bread). NO rice, I am sort of over that fertility stuff at 70 years old (besides the wife would kill me). I don’t know if this meal will bring luck in the future but it sure has brought the luck of good friends and family gathering around the dinner table over the years.

        Clear Spring

Not real close to Clear Springs but my family had a little cabin on the river near Doniphan, Mo we used to go to sometimes in the summer. Gorgeous country down there.

mrobisr yep. Used ones are all we use. The wife has a book with all these little tips and tricks. Been doing it for over 10 years now. It does not hurt the pan at all

bocephus honestly, it is unbelievable how well it works. For really stuck on food, you might have to let it sit more than an hour, but it works.

hey vegetarians, my food poops on your food!

Idaho Smokey it was definitely an interesting post. I should be good this year. I had my greens on New Years eve for dinner, but made sure I kept a little for lunch on the first just in case. This picture was our New Years day dinner at my sister and brother-in-law’s house. 20220101_210055.jpg This was my plate with roasted pork, sausage, kraut, mashed potatoes and Black Eyed Pea salad.

I know I certainly gained weight, but a years worth of good luck and good fortune is yet to be seen. It was interesting looking at everyone’s traditions. Many are similar or the same, just some small twists along the way.

Jonathon it’s like magic. Bake some bbq ribs without spraying the pan. Let it soak with a used one, we have never tried new, I’m to cheap.

kyle I always have used ones hanging around, as we do the laundry the dogs steal them and run around the house with them for some reason. I assume it isn’t good for them so I chase them, which is probably why they keep taking them!

Austin and I were talking the other day and I really think mine have cost me more money, the big guy has had 2 pricey knee surgeries, has allergies badly enough that we have to do immuno therapy for him and the other one is insane, on human antipsychotic pills and chews through doors! As far as time goes, it is probably about even BUT when my dogs die I will be sad, if I had a child and it died …I mean, maybe I don’t ever recover from that? Or at least it would be WAY harder to come back from…nice happy thoughts at 9:30 in the morning huh?!

Jonathon And I thought I had problems with my dogs, all they wanted was attention all the time, when we had four that was pretty intense, now down to one and he thinks we should still give him the same amount of attention as when we had four.

Jonathon I understand. We lost our Blue Healer Duke a year or so ago & it was really sad. He was the greatest of good dogs & I have had a few others too. But Duke had two ACL knee surgeries & we do not live near the good A&M school, with the good doctor that I knew personally before he died, anymore. Those vets are proud of their work these days. I had been there with ol Doc Poindexter when he worked on bulls, horses, & all sorts of other things & can’t even begin to imagine what the modern day vet would charge for all that.
