Bob Stehlik I’m probably a bad parent. Im not sure my kids knew tacos were made from beef until they were in high school, or that they were actually called tacos.

We needed a quick diner while getting ready for family to come to our house Friday night. I fried up a little ground venison to make some tacos. When my kids were little, they called them deerco’s and it stuck. I seasoned the meat with Excalibur Chipotle Lime sweet rub. Shredded a little cheddar from cheese I smoked a few days ago. Topped with fresh onion and tomato, home canned picante sauce and sour cream. If the shells look funny or orange colored, it is Old El Paso stand and stuff nacho cheese seasoned shells. I made a side with black bean refried’s topped with smoked cheddar and fresh onion.

GWG8541 That looks good. I have been wanting to turn some of that smoked pork shoulder into tacos, real tacos where you fry the corn tortillas, but everyone has been getting me to hold off since we have so much work to do right now getting these project reports completed so we can relax later.

Tex_77 love fried catfish. Usually go for the nuggets for the extra crunch.

GWG8541 I have not either, but always was fond of the idea. It was my Mother that did it too. We never ate those shell type tacos & I never had them until I got married, over 40 years ago now, as Margaret’s idea was that we needed to go uptown a bit & try the shells. I always thought that was down town. I still like the old way if it can be done right, but I will have to admit, I cannot come even in the same universe as my Mom could with them.

bocephus I agree, that is also one good thing about the store bought corn shells. They get baked which saves a little room for me to fry other stuff later.

Tried my hand at some pecan pie. First time making it so we’ll see. Hate to admit it but I cheated and bought pre-made frozen crust. Im sure it pales in comparison to the ones I’ve heard you guys talk about on here but hoping it’s at least palatable. 🤞🏼
