Preparing to do some snack sticks early January and looking for opinions on flavors. Our family has enjoyed both pepperstick and willies sticks but looking to try something different. Was leaning towards the honey bbq but wanted opinions first as the price was a lot more than the other varieties we’ve made. Thoughts and opinions on the various flavors would be appreciated. Thanks

metlman501 if you like a sweet flavor the honey bbq is a good pick. It’s my wife’s favorite. My favorite is Bourbon Peppercorn, fajita, ranch and dill pickle. If you like a little heat then Habanero BBQ is a good choice. It’s not as hot as you would think being Habanero. You really want to kick up the heat add some ghost pepper hi temp cheese to it.

metlman501 also I haven’t made it myself yet but if you do a bacon one I have been suggested to also add the bacon flavor booster packet as well. That is on the agenda for me coming up in January as well.

Our favorite, is jalapeno with pepper jack cheese, we have them made for us though. So I can’t help you with past the base seasonings. But when those buck sticks warm up and that pepper jack cheese becomes creamy, boy howdy you can’t just eat a few!

metlman501 BBQ Smoked Stick is a crowd pleaser that is a change of pace from Willies & Pepper Stick. It is sweet with a smokey tang. It has a lot of sugar like the Honey BBQ but not nearly as expensive.

metlman501 currently the habanero bbq is at the top of my list. Also really enjoyed the mandarin teriyaki for a family friendly stick. Just don’t inhale while mixing or you’ll be sneezing like a banshee.

As a couple others said, the Habanero BBQ is very good. Like twilliams said, not overly hot.

metlman501 sorry I am not much help on this one. I have tried a couple of mixes but I just like my own recipes the best. I need to do some more experimenting and maybe try some other pre-made mixes when i find the time.

metlman501 I start with H summer sausage seasoning. I add 1 1/2 T red pepper flake, 1 T black pepper, 1.5 oz mustard seed, 1 T garlic powder, 3 cups water. You can of course just add hi temp cheese. I like to add wild rice, craisins, and cheddar for my WI sticks. I have replaced the water with Franks hot wing sauce and added hi temp blue cheese for buffalo sticks. they turned out good, but next time I am going to try and use franks hot wing powder for more flavor. You can add jalapeno (I use my home canned ones cut up) and cheddar. My next batch I am going to try and add my homemade BBQ sauce. Just try different things, keep good notes so you know what works and what you want to change. When I try something new, I will do a 5# batch. Good luck and let your creative side come out

metlman501 Teriyaki is good as well. I would not add the encapsulated citric acid, though. I didn’t think it was a good mix.
