Today is the day I am heading to the piney woods of east Texas, cold front blew through so hopefully that will trigger some movement, it also rained a lot yesterday.

I was able to take Saturday and Sunday off to go deer hunting. I only had a doe tag but I’m very picky with does. I have passed on many this year. I have also gotten a bit soft hearted as I’ve gotten older. I won’t harvest a doe that has fawns with her anymore. Today I shot one but the bad thing is she was 1.5 miles from the truck in a spot where you have to drag them out. Sleep will come easy tonight and Thank God for a good game cart! It was windy as all get out today too. 15 degrees with 27 mph winds.

The big deer that is in the area didn’t show his face, but this fella made the mistake of coming out. I will be turning this guy into pan sausage and chorizo. Thankfully it was cold enough to use nature’s walk in cooler so I didn’t have to quarter him up right away.

I just ordered our favorite breakfast pan sausage blend, and going to try that brand’s chorizo blend. Hopefully, I will be able to get it done this weekend.

Just pulled in the driveway from 3 days of of deer hunting. This is gun week in Ohio. So opening day I tried to listen in on the Live cast, but it kept buffering and I couldn’t really take advantage of any deals. I was able to type in a shout out from the tree. This was the view while listening to Jonathon Austin and JohnG5 with a earbud in.
The big boys did not cooperate and I harvested a doe this morning.
One of my sons made it for 2 days, but never had a shot on one. A friend who is 81 next week, took a doe this morning about 1 minute before I shot this one. It’s always a blessing to put meat in the freezer and always a good day when hunting with friends and family.“You never really die until you end up on the wall at a Cracker Barrel”

One of my sons made it for 2 days, but never had a shot on one. A friend who is 81 next week, took a doe this morning about 1 minute before I shot this one. Did see your shout from the tree.PapaSop I threw on a flimsy nylon vest and a full face nit cap. We have a body and head requirement, but none on the legs. I try to bow hunt more than gun and use the same cold weather gear, just add orange.

ND Mike Absolutely, it is a time I get together with my brothers. We are spread all across the country but really all try to get home for deer hunting, most years we hunt with friends also and this is the only time I see most of them.
