https://www.waltonsinc.com/waltons-economy-vac-sealer So, look what arrived, it is the Economy Vac Sealer! This is going to retail for $90 and I think it is superior to the old Harvest Guard that was around the same price. The handle gives a really nice feel for it being closed and it has a Wet/Dry setting that actually seems to do something. I don’t know how it is but it seems to work. JohnG5 Will be going a deeper post about this on the blog but I wanted to be the 1st to introduce it!

Do you need someone to put it through its pace and write a review. I volunteer myself for the gruesome task.

On a more serious note. If you have to choose one for home use but not processor who you pick this one or the 12"… and for what reason! I need to upgrade my cheapo one but can’t shoulder another big purchase, unless it is the smartest thing to do

Dr_Pain Okay, based on all you do, get a chamber vacuum. It will pay for itself just in the lack of waste and ruined food.

Let’s talk before you pull the trigger.

Dr_Pain I got a cheap vac sealer off ebay new for 350. 12 inch sealing bar and adjustable vac, seal and cool down times. I use it weekly for sealing lunch and veggies. Waltons and some of the others are probably much better build but was out of my price range, plus I have a roommate who can fix anything. Search 300watt vac sealer on ebay if interested. Ps. Hand is in photo for size ref.

Dr_Pain I’d go with the 12" if money wasn’t an option as it has the wider seal bar and seems to have a little stronger pump, however, as far as a straight up value on your money goes? Hard to go against the economy model. JohnG5 will have more coming later in a post about the economy sealer. $350 for a chamber is super cheap and if you even get a year out of it I would say it could be worth it but there is a reason they are usually much more expensive, they have a LOT more moving parts in them and if they are making any money on a 350 price tag Im imagining it doesn’t have the best build. Maybe you got the unicorn though!

                  Not used. NEW.
Jonathan . Yes I took a risk and I wish I could afford the fantasticks stuff Waltos sells. Wanted to go cheap on some equipment but buy good quality things I’m going to put pressure on like you 11 pound stuffer.
but so far (3 months) it performed well. It’s one of the mass produced Chinese models, but does have adjustments for double or single seal as well as emergency stop. So far I’m sealing 10 to 20 bags a week. My roommate says its put together with parts that can be easily found if the vac pump tubing or solenoids fail. Only problem I have had were user errors caused by getting liquid on the bag and it not sealing.

Jonathon I watched the livestream (not live) tonight and you were talking about finding no difference between the moist and dry setting. Most of them that have a moist setting has to do with increasing the seal time or increased heat on the seal bar to compensate for any moisture that is on the bag. There is usually no difference in the actual vacuum.

Grimpuppy The vac sealer I recently bought from a neighbor for a sweet deal has that setting. My previous one didn’t have it, but that is good to know.

Jonathon I just received my Walton’s Economy Vac Sealer and I thought it was to have a removable drain tray per the description in the Equipment area of the website. The unit I received does not have a removable tray for ease of cleaning. Has anyone else had this issue with Walton’s Economy Vac Sealer?

Jonathon Thanks for checking. All of our previous (3-4) Food Savers did and the last one just crapped out. We have a large VacMaster Pro380 and we bought the little one for small vac jobs so we don’t have to get the big one out.

Mine doesn’t have a removable drip tray either. 😪
