Same here. When I posted pics on my last few posts the were sideways. I thought I messed up but my pics before uploading were right side up.

Anyone else seeing their photos changing and being displayed sideways and not how you uploaded them. I’ve noticed it on some other posts then had it happen to me this morning on the thread What did everyone cook.

ND Mike and all, if you go to your original photo and click edit then just crop it ever so slightly will make them load right side up. I also downsize the photo from original size to large. This should post them correctly then

ND Mike with my Android all I had to load a photo was resize it or it wouldn’t load, now that I got this piece of junk iPhone I have to crop it in original photo or it will put it sideways. I also still resize it,not sure if I would still have to I just do out of habit. Try only cropping and see if it works

We are trying to make it so you guys don’t have to do as much work downsizing or anything to post photos. Meatgistics has a built-in feature that “should” downsize and downscale the quality of images but it doesn’t seem to want to work right for some reason. This could be what is causing the sideways images but I don’t think it is. I have NodeBB looking into the cause of the sideways image loading.

Just FYI there is a chance it is a setting in your phones that is telling it to present them as landscape even if they aren’t. I uploaded a bunch ot a test category and we couldn’t get it to post sideways. Anyway, I will keep everyone up to date on what we find out.

ND Mike blackbetty61 twilliams John Belvedere HerbcoFood Can any of you show me an exact instance of the sideways? I think I found them on the What did every cook thread but I wasn’t to be sure and the more examples I have the better for them. They are doing what I thought they would and saying that top-down photos often have orientation problems BUT they are absolutely willing to look into it and I trust the NodeBB guys pretty much completely.

Jonathon I don’t have any issues with photos that I have loaded sideways. I also upload from my computer. It could be an issue from uploads from the phone only. The pic you uploaded yesterday with the hats, cutting board, etc. was sideways. I am not sure you meant it to be that way though.

Jonathon your photo did on the Member rewards thread. It was correct at first and then it somehow went sideways. Here is a screenshot.

Okay, some information on this, last week someone made a change to the image upload settings in an attempt to downgrade the image size/quality as they were posting IF they were over 4 megs. It turns out that this was probably causing the sideways loading images. All I can tell you about this person who is responsible is they are bald and their last name DOES NOT begin with a T…

Also, they are looking at some upgrades to nodeBB to fix the downgrading quality/size of images in future updates which means in the next few updates we “SHOULD” be able to post a photo and not worry if it is too big, it will be automatically scaled down. If your image is already under the size limit, no changes would occur.
