Dr_Pain LOL I love it!

julian Yeah, I want to leave it on so that people can express what they don’t like from a Walton’s employee, a good way to get some negative feedback if it is needed from the community. Plus, a downvote isn’t a death notice or anything, I’d imagine I have more downvotes than all other users combined.
Ill tell you what, do people really want it turned off? I just put it on the next podcast schedule, if we can generate a 90% stated desire for it to be turned off I will at least bring it up to Austin, in the end, this is your guys site as much as ours.
Jonathon First, downvotes are no longer hidden from anyone. We know who downvoted us.
I say either turn it off or have a second chance question if you really want to downvote . I think it would solve all the issues
-
Dr_Pain the other half of it is, while we peons cannot see who downvoted another post, admins can!
julian It use to be that way, now we can see who downvoted us.
-
I think leave it on.
-
the down votes are good for co. trying to advertise on this forum !
-
craigrice we can do a flag the post or flag the user for that.
-
Wait you guys can’t see who upvotes and downvotes, o just the downvote. Tex_77 I’m on your side with this one but it does feel like popular opinion is against us.

Jonathon Good thing this isn’t a democracy then!

I’m not opposed to keeping the down vote. Sometime there may be something i would down vote, but that hasn’t happen yet.
-
Tex_77 I agree with keeping the down vote.

Oh, I see!! Essentially a flagging process. I did have to report a spam post once. Definitely more forward and effective than a downvote but I see how it could be used by the admins

julian Jonathon long live the down vote! Somedays i just feel I need to hand them out like candy on Halloween!
HAHAHAHA!!! I will stand clear of your candies since an unjustified downvote would crush my big soft heart.

It would maybe be nice to see who down voted, person could ask why? I don’t want it to turn into a bad thing top such a great site.

Anomaly? Not sure. Logged in today, 43 unread in less than 24 hours. Unreal!

Austin Was this part of your vision?PapaSop Yes. I can’t say that I knew 100% how things would evolve, but the goal was and is to grow to a point where there is constant activity, new topics, responses, etc. I want to see it where we have hundreds of new topics a day, and thousands of replies and responses. There are ways to control which categories and topics you receive notifications on and for only certain things to popup into your Unread section, so the goal here is to make things popular enough to fill anyone’s feed daily with tons of new content but allow it to be custom-tailored to just what a user specifically is more interested in. This platform (NodeBB) that we are using was definitely a lot more than we needed at the start, but we have and continue to grow into it, and add new features of our own, and it has the capability of supporting an even much bigger engagement rate than we have now. What we have could scale to support exponentially more than we do now, and the goal is to continue to grow to make it a larger platform while still providing a small feel and tailored content to everyone.
Maybe we will do a recurring podcast segment on where we are headed, what’s coming up, and where we see the road leading further down the line.
