“A pack of lips”? Why did Mick Jagger just come to mind?

Sitting in my chair surrounded by my family. Can of beer with a bourbon chaser, some smokes, ribeye on the grill and a couple of fingers pointed to it all. Some CCR or Zager and Evans playing in the background.

Departing Contestant Holy Grail is a nice touch!
Jonathon Venison? You plan on getting some?

Tex_77 I would have to say some means to purify water, a source of fire, and a good general poupous knife.

GWG8541 That’s a close second, most should be refrigerated so I hope you live in a cold climate or have a nice cool spring near by to keep it cold.

Tex_77 Have matches and lighters in a vacuum sealed bag, several gallons of bleach for water, and several knifes sharpened by Jonathon put away.

Now, also have that 357 ready to protect. An essential in Texas.

GWG8541 I know that in New Orleans, any time there is a hurricane, you pack the ice chest with water melon and beer. The water melon is to help keep the beer cold!

So, bought a chest freezer this weekend and am rapidly filling it halfway, leaving the other half for venison. Case of 9mm came in today, I have 250 shotgun shells mixed between bird, turkey, buck and home defense. I have a 50 gallon barrel that my wife says she can use to distil clean drinking water and 2 rather large intimidating canine friends who would eat anyone who tried to hurt my wife. What am I missing?

Jonathon this post is starting to look interesting, so I have to tell a true story from a few years ago. It happened during my past occupation. As a Commander, I sat in on a roll call and the Sergeant brought up this very topic. He explained in detail everything he had in place at his house, which was quite a bit and impressive. Then he asked everyone if they had done any “prepping”. He came to Ray, who was a Marine, and said “Ray I bet you have a ton of guns and ammo ready to go”. Ray calmly replied “not really- I only own 2 rifles for hunting and a handgun”. The Sergeant kind of sarcastic said he was shocked that Ray wasn’t ready for the “big one”. After hearing about how prepared the Sergeant claimed he was, Ray just said “I don’t need anything else, if it gets that bad I’m coming to your house and will kill you and take your sh!7.” So after I about fell off of my chair laughing, I realized Ray was being funny, but at the same time he was dead serious. Ray made a great point. Never count your money when your setting at the table, and more importantly, mental preparation is as important as physical preparation. I hope you appreciate Ray’s insight and humor as much as I did.

Brought up a lot of items that I would not have though of.

                                  It is worth reading again.
