I for one will be working all weekend. I hope everyone has a great labor day weekend…

don’t feel bad, I’m working all weekend also. 4-12 hour midnights starting tonight. It’s going to be tough after 2 1/2 weeks off on vacation. Stay safe at work

cdavis kyle, You guys don’t work too hard now. We will be right there with you with an inspection in the morning before a day or two of report writing (while trying to make Gumbo at the same time) & then hit the road for Natchez, MS, Port Allen & Opelousas, LA for a few more inspections before heading back to write reports.

calldoctoday Have to give people a door to exit before they’re cornered. That’s the 10%. You’ll have to try harder to get under my skin. I have been attacked by the best while officiating soccer at many levels and over 3,000 matches. 🙂

cdavis Thanks, All work. Got our inspection done today & writing reports now. Hopefully the access to everything & roadways will not be too bad in MS & LA with the storm having come through some of the area. Don’t work too hard over the weekend, enjoy as much of it as you can.

twilliams said in Labor Day Weekend:

I want to give a huge shout out to the farmers. They don’t get holidays off. They don’t get sick days. They don’t get vacations. 24 hours a day 365. I did this profession for 10 years. They give the ultimate sacrifice!!

20 years on the family dairy farm.
When I started working 8 hr. shifts getting paid by the hour and weekends off I thought man, this is great!

glen i worked my fulltime job of 10 hour shifts 6 days a week most of the time and farmed right after that for 5 hours 6 days a week. Sunday sometimes more depending on what needed to be done. I dont know how i did it for 10 years but it definitely burned me out. The market crashed and farmers were really struggling with prices. He said he may have to temporarily hault my employment as he just couldnt afford it any longer trying to keep the farm afloat he cut a bunch costs. Got rid of his new tractors and bought some old ones. It really hit him hard. About a week later of our discussion my fulltime job looked at other companies of what they were paying their employees for my position and decided they had to raise us up to remain competitive. So it all worked out in the end. And yes it is nice to have weekends off, i wont work 6 days a week at the fulltime job either. I missed alot of family and friend time in those 10 years. Money is nice, just shouldnt run your life

twilliams Amen, I have had several friends who did the same to keep the family farms going. Working at a factory, just to come home and keep the farm running. It always amazed me how dedicated they were. My respect to you for doing it.

calldoctoday I agree, I believe it’s better for my farm boss as well. I think the prices came back up and he still has his other 3 Guatemalans working for him. Very nice folks. 1 is trying to get his family here and get citizenship. Very hard workers. As far as the rest of the country right now I hope everything gets back to some normalcy and all can live prosperous that want to.

glen i worked my fulltime job of 10 hour shifts 6 days a week most of the time and farmed right after that for 5 hours 6 days a week.
