Jon's Journey (not as good as Joe Hells)

Tex_77 very true!!!

Starting out at 201! Holy Cow! I’m sure you can handle the 26 lbs., Jon. It’s a one-day-at-a-time thing. I haven’t weighed that since I was a tackle on the eighth grade football team. I’m more in line with Joe Hell. I weighed in at 354 last June. 261 this morning. Down 93 lbs. in 11 months. I weigh every day. It’s the #1 priority of my entire day, every day. My method is simple. I got the idea from my sister, who had bariatric surgery. It forced her to eat very small amounts of food, many times a day. I figured I could do that, without having the pain and expense of surgery. I eat 100 calories/hr., every hour, from the time I get up till 7 pm. Anything I want. Turns out, 1 ounce of beef jerky is about 100 calories. Yum. I don’t eat to may sweets, mostly because 100 calories is usually not much volume. Lots and lots of foods are packaged in 100 calorie portions. This is all partly why you guys are driving me crazy with your pictures and descriptions of fantastic meat products. Good news is, they can all be cut into 100 calorie portions! I’m in, on the weekly check-in!

Jonesy That’s an extraordinary story. You have much to feel good about that weight loss.
Interesting about the 100 calories per hour. I’ve been trying to do the intermittent fasting, allowing 14 to 16 hours between main meals. Sounds like your approach may be a better solution.
thanks for sharing.

Chef
100 calories isn’t a lot, but you only have to wait 50 minutes or so after you eat, and you can do it again!Jonesy It makes sense. I’m going to give it a try starting tomorrow morning. Any other factors to consider?

Nothing else, really, to consider. I did make a few rules for myself: I had to pick a time, every hour, to eat. I chose quarter till, every hour. I set the alarm on my phone for that time, for the entire day. I allow a 15 minute window, so if I done eat by “straight up”, then I gotta wait till the next ‘45’. I have packaged food in my truck, in my workshop, in my wife’s car, no excuses. My wife does it too. When I take her out to dinner, it’s McD’s drive-thru for 1 hamburger. (We carry a knife in the car.) I get the half with the pickle. Yum! It’s amazing how good everything tastes when you’re limited.

Jonesy 8 hours into the 100 calories per hour. Feeling good about it.
Turns out that will work out to about 1300 calories per day. More than enough. and you are correct, 45 to 50 minutes or so is not too long to wait regardless of how I feel. Also drinking a lot of water. This is inspiriting.

Week one went well. I already felt better just a few days into this and that continues. A big event on Saturday night for Walton’s was a slight setback, I didn’t eat anything I didn’t make as I made the sausage we were giving out as samples BUT there were some drinks involved. Still, all and all a decent week. An odd thing happened too, I am all of the sudden far more sensitive to caffeine. I don’t know what that could have to do with it but it does seem to be true. My pre-workout yesterday basically overloaded my system and I was jumpy and sort of weird all day.
Week 2 weight is 198, so that’s 1.5% of my body weight and 8.3% of my goal. I sort of figured it would drop more than that but I think with all the water I am retaining from drinking a ridiculous amount of liquid yesterday.

My week went okay as well. I’m down 5.6 pounds to 239.8 Got to say I do feel hungry, mostly in the evening, but I’m dealing with it. Getting tired of vegetables and such, want a big pizza now. Was very tempted at a catering I did Saturday evening. It was one of those over the top events with too much great food and desserts. I resisted!
On the very plus side, my knees do not hurt near as much and looking forward to the other benefits of dropping this weight.

As I cannot officially start until my blood work returns and meet with my doctor to discuss. I picked up additional exercise and more water intake. I have begun to limit excessive carbs in my cooking and more lien proteins and of course more veggies.

Chef Awesome job man, 5.6 lb in a week is nothing to sneeze at! lkrfletcher its crazy how just drinking more water helps. My big issue is energy drinks, way too many of them…need to give them up but I think that’s gonna have to wait!

Jonathon I have never had an energy drink, but I hear bad things, like heart arithmia issues. Id say slow them down. If your looking for a kick, try green tea with a little honey.

I have never been able to do energy drinks thankfully. They give me gut rot! I do however drink way too much coffee. Trying to do half caffeine in the afternoons! Glad I dont work nights anymore. I drank coffee all day when I did that.

If we all keep this up, Meatgistics members will not only be the most knowledgeable group, but the healthiest group around.
Now all we need to do is get Jonesy to flip to the Blue team. LOL

Just thought i would bring this up, i haven’t read all posts so not sure who is doing what. However when i was doing the dirty keto diet it was time for my 6 month teeth cleaning and i had excessive plaque build up which i have never had that much before. Come to find out that on the keto diet you strive to have a low carb high protein diet. Well unfortunately plaque loves protein which in turn gives you more plaque that could turn into decay with teeth and gums. It really sucks that you try to get healthy but it affects another part of your body negetivly. A lady friend of mine from California got severe kidney stones and ended up being septic from keto and in the hospital for an extended time. Just about lost her life. Stay safe and do thorough research.

twilliams Thanks for the head’s up. Seems that there is on easy sure fire way. Now that you mentioned it, on my last dental checkup, they had to do what they called a deep cleaning because of excessive plaque buildup. Now I understand why… Thanks again
