JoeB My VacMaster Pro 380 is a counter top/table top model and weighs approximately 23 lbs. I purchased it from Waltons’s approx. 3 yrs. ago. It is a non- chambered unit.
Bob Stehlik ok, i was confused… 2nd thing that stops working after 70
Thought you were talking about a vac chamber 380 that would be a monster because my vac chamber 230 is 100lbs -
Midwest_kc My Weston vac sealer 2300 has as 16" seal bar and will do any length bag you cut… . . no liquids msrp apx $390, sale $290.
JoeB I’ve got a food saver right now for a non chambered unit. Really looking for a chambered one, just want to make sure I get one that will meet my needs.

Midwest_kc Now I understand, i moved up from a food saver to a master pro 2300 apx 10 yrs ago. It is a good product and did a great job for me. More labor intense than a vac chamber, but also expedientialy less expensive. Chambers are wonderful, and i use mine often, but i still fall back on my vac sealer 2300 for big boy stuff with no liquids… I would do the $300 and grow into the $1700 in time. One last thing, over the last 10yrs with my 2300, i have bagged 1000+. Replaced the seals once, and the heat wire once. Both cost under $15 easy repair. Best to buy what you need, not what you want… That’s my rule. joe

I am a little ashamed, yet proud to admit that I have the cheapest model of Food Saver vac sealer that I found on sale at Menards for $95 over 12 years ago. It has served me well and keeps on sealing perfect packages as long as I feed it quality film.
I am sure some day it will die, and I will need to upgrade, but until then, it keeps soldiering on. -
Trying to decide on a upgrade from my food saver. It would be for processing wild game. Looking at weston 2300, weston 2600 and weston 3000. Found a 2300 for $250 but not sure to buy it because mixed reviews breaking in a year or less.

Chamber sealer is the only way to go! I’ve got a VacMaster 215 and have had it for about 4-5 years and love it!

I want to be able to do fresh veggies too. Make salads and other delicate veggies last longer. In order to do that I need a machine with an accessory port so I can seal such items in vacuum containers or Mason jars. I am not sure if a chamber sealer with gas exchange will work for that or not. Otherwise I would need to get both a vacuum sealer and a chamber sealer to properly do all of the things we want to do. Anyone know of a chamber unit that also does vacuum sealing? Or is a chamber sealer with gas exchange the way to go?

Food saver has a high end model with a vac port and a marinate function. For around $30 you need the vac topper for the jars, and a marinate container for that function. Saw a hack on making a pressure cooker into a vac chamber for jars. number of jars and size depended on the size of the cooker. $60 vac pump fm HF, and a few feet of hose. the cooker could be used as intended after, it wasn’t altered . They were vac canning grains, rice, and non refrigerated food items. Didn’t alter the need to refrigerate perishables. They just stayed fresh longer.

I have a vacmaster vp210 with the oilers pump, have had it for about 4 years or 5 maybe now… have sealed A LOT of stuff… thousands and thousands of bags and absolutely love it, will eventually have a nice floor model to expand my abilities for expanding the business but for now, love these chambered table tops

RJ Adventures I agree, I have likely sealed 15,000 bags over the years with the VP210. It will most definitely outlive me.

Wish you the best on the sneaking part. Been there… done that. LOLCurrently on my third Foodsaver. Could have paid for a chambered one and then some.
You mean I can’t use the “Look what I found in the basement” line

John Belvedere Yeah, I tried that once, sorta bummeranged on me a bit farther down the road.

I got a 2300 I don’t know how many years ago (at least 10, probably closer to 15), and it’s still going as strong as the day I got it. I use it so much that it has a permanent spot on the counter.
I had a Foodsaver “Pro III” that lasted all of 3 years. When it died, I got replaced it with the same “Pro III,” and that one died after 6 months. The replacement I got from that lasted about three weeks. I asked my BBQ buddies what they used, and they pointed me to the 2300. I also noticed it was the one my homebrew supply shop was using to package bulk hops, minerals, and grains into smaller packages. That said, I believe I’ve heard that they aren’t as reliable as they used to be. However, I have to believe that they still are better than Foodsaver.

TexLaw my 2300 works about the same, but i did have to replace the seals and heat wire once. Both under $15
