GWG8541 Is buffalo trace as good as people say, or is that the Rogan effect?

Jonathon I like Buffalo Trace a lot. The price point is decent. Any blended whiskey is consistent and if you find one you like, it’s a keeper. Half of my Kentucky shelf are Buffalo Trace products. Eagle Rare and E. H. Taylor are two of my favorites. There is a Blanton’s there and it is one of my least favorites. Its priced too high in my opinion and like most single barrels, the taste will vary with each barrel. I’ve had a few good and some not so good. I have a few bottles of Weller, which are also Buffalo Trace products that are good. Of course whiskey is like sausage, everyone’s taste is different, but there is something for everyone.

calldoctoday I’ve heard about some defective bottles that product disappears from. That could be your issue!

GWG8541 try saving the picture then resize the picture and save. Your file maybe to large, too much to send. Try then uploading your resized picture

GWG8541 It looks like your taste buds have some searching to do. With that lineup, it all depends if you want wheated or rye bourbon, sour mash or drinkable whiskey. Have tried and have all in view except the Roland. Have fun letting your taste buds go on a search for “what’s next?”.

zbigjeff Well, I stayed with a local one tonight. If you haven’t tried it, Sycamore is an Ohio distillery near Cincinnati. I picked up a bottle of their 10 year American whiskey, just to support a Buckeye business and was pleasantly surprised. I also picked up their bourbon, but prefer the 10 year.

GWG8541 I live in Ohio and never saw that one. Will see if they have it up north. Side note: The Wathen’s was recommended/picked up 2 years ago and was also a good pour. It doesn’t have to be expensive to be good.

I myself think it is important not to discriminate agents and spirit and accepting every one of them as they come.

uncowboy I agree, some of the better bourbon and whiskeys I’ve had, were some of the least expensive. I just finished a Dickel single barrel and it was awesome.

Well my bourbon of choice at the present time is Long Branch by Wild Turkey. Rye whiskey is Dad’s Hat Rye finished in vermouth barrels. Have taken a liking to Pio Caesare wine, have been using this berbarra wine to ferment sausages. My son bought me a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Scotch, its nice and smooth sipping but at $280 a bottle, I won’t pour it down the sink but I have had other lesser cost Scotch that is just as smooth.

It is definitely one of the smoother whiskies I have sampled.
