If you are getting your noise while turning, I would look at wheel bearings. As you turn you are shifting the weight of the vehicle more to one side. If you are turning right and get a noise, suspect the left wheel bearing.

archhaymaker Thats gotta be what it is, someone else mentioned that earlier. I MIGHT actually have some time this weekend to look into it! Seriously, I question how people with kids get anything done, I don’t have kids but am always strapped for time to get anything I want to do done! The older I get the more I realize that money isn’t as good for buying things as it is for having people do things for you to save you time!

archhaymaker lol yeah, I designed my life to be simple, its my wife and I with no kids. Then we got a rescue pitbull mastiff who developed anxiety issues, then my job got more serious then we got a 180 lb mastiff and my job got more and more serious and she is a chemical engineer who is going for her MBA so for the last 1.5 years I’ve not only been working harder and harder (and trust me, I am NOT complaining, I am the luckiest person I know with this job) and I am now suzie homemaker too since my wife just flat out doesn’t have the time. Whatever though, we have our health, each other and good jobs!

johnsbrewhouse Well, it is starting to happen when I am driving in a straight line as well. Not as bad but I can hear it. I removed part of a wheel well covering that had fallen and was hanging, I was really hoping it was something stupid and easy. Oh well, if I ever figure it out you can be sure I will let everyone know!

jonathon have you tried jacking up each front wheel and spinning it then place your your hands at 3 & 9 then push back and forth then at 12 and 6 then observe any play then have your wife work the steering back and forth while you look for any play in the connecting joints this will tell much and then pass it on to your mechanic or parts store and they can narrow it down from there

craigrice I have not done this but I will be doing it now, thanks for the advice! I did replace the CV joint on that side about 18 months ago.

there are different grades of parts out there depending on were and how much you spend, aftermarket parts do not always last as long as retail because of the quality of the product

Have her turn the steering wheel slightly back and forth not to much and have the truck sitting on all 4,
Does the noise come on a gradual curve? Right or left curve?
Sounds like a wheel bearing from what you described -
@s-a-m I had the bearing checked and was told it was fine. when the car isnt in motion there is no noise when the wheel is turned. When driving it only happens when the car is turning or angling to the right.

what if any things are showing up on your dash ?

@s-a-m Yes, left front wheel. Happened the other day when I wasn’t turning.

Left wheel bearing! Needs checked that’s classic signs, in a right turn your putting more side load on the left bearing causing the noise

@s-a-m I had my mechanic check the wheel bearing and he said it was perfectly fine, he was tearing his hair out trying to figure it out.
