Idaho Smokey Hey, maybe I missed it. But, do you make the mincemeat or purchase it?

Dr_Pain This stuff is good. I am not a fan of mincemeat pie and can take or leave pumpkin pie but mix them together and you have a good piece of pie.

Dr_Pain I did all of these recipes for a special Thanksgiving some 20+ years ago. This was done for my Mom. She was the one person in the family that actually loved both mincemeat and pumpkin pie. She would take a small slice of both and eat them together. We were having really nice weather for this time of year so I decided to deep fry the turkey. The temps outside were in the high 50’s and no wind. Just about the time I fired up the pot of oil a cold front moved in. The temps dropped into the low 30’s with wind. Nothing I tried was going to get the pot of oil up to cooking temp. We had to cook the bird in the oven which made dinner very late. By the time stuff finally hit the table I didn’t care if there were pictures of everything or not. I do not do this pie very often and have never taken a picture of it for some odd reason.

Idaho Smokey I never saw it in a store. But, if you’re not looking for it, it’s tough to find. I was just wondering because I have not had it in years.

zbigjeff I haven’t looked in some time either. The mincemeat does come in a jar and not a can. I did do a search on line and both the grocery stores close to me have it in stock.

zbigjeff I recently saw it at Meijers, if you have one near you. Im not sure why it caught my eye, since I wasn’t looking for it. With Idaho Smokey posting this recipe, it must have been an omen. Ill have to head back and grab some.

GWG8541 I’m heading out tomorrow for next week’s festivities for items I don’t make. Today was spent carpet cleaning and didn’t have to go to the gym because it was a goooood workout. Thanks for the info.
