craigrice I think it is a very calculated plan on China’s part to further destroy the United States. We have got to take control over our supply chain and not be dependent on those who openly state that they are out to destroy America.

Look at the overall picture. Open to Iran’s nuclear buildup, changing fact with total fiction and accepting it as true, taking control over the free speech of American… the list goes on and on. This is not an accident. It is calculate.

It is time to step up and defend what is right and defend our country. I don’t care if someone is offended, we need to do what is in the best interest of our society.

Okay, I’m going to step off my soap box…

Ok. I can on the board today for the pretty pictures and the fun stories I could live vicariously through, but could not miss a post by Chef. Reading this thread made me a little angry, a little sad, and a lot scared as to what is to come.

Dr_Pain Thanks, Dr_Pain . I watch your post as well, Us Cajuns must stick together. LOL

On a serious note, we can all do something to help in this disaster.

First, VOTE. Forget party and look at value systems and voting records.

Second. Money Speaks. Buy products from companies that support issues that you are aligned with your values. Many large companies give lots of money, profits from our buying habits, to groups that we would oppose. Research the products and companies you support. I have a whole list of companies if anyone would like a list privately.

Third, DO not be afraid to voice your opinions. The fastest way for the enemy to win if for good people to do nothing. This being offended c r a p has gotten to be too much. Stand up for what is right.

          Okay, off the soapbox again.

Chef Sorry for the late response but for a quick update, Walton’s did a good job (at least as good as we could) at stocking this year. Unless something really weird happens we will not run out of any Walton’s branded stuff. Casings haven’t been much a problem though there could be some issues with Natural Casings as they are shipped both overseas and back. I’d say it is going to be little things we wont be able to predict. Right now |Jalapeno-Pepper-Flakes-5-lb are in such short supplies we have taken the 5 lob bag off-line and can only be purchased by certain commercial customers. I’d also guess we could see another run on both sanitizers and gloves…that all that comes to mind as things I would be concerned about. If anyone is absolutely married to a seasoning for the Holidays I’d buy it now. I am not saying I see a shortage of any of them coming but as seasonings have a lot of different ingredients a shortage in any of them may make your favorite difficult to get.

zbigjeff I do get a chuckle when Costco and Sam’s post no return on these items and people are stuck with their hoarded items, usually see them for sale on facebook later.

The logic of hoarding or prepping is lost on me… If we indeed suffer a cataclysmic EMP which wipes out our entire infrastructure then we will not only have mass chaos but also mass casualties. Without running water, sanitation, medication production, a working law and order system or organized (and effective) medical system… Well let’s say that it won’t be a planet I will want to prolonged my suffering on. There will be mass spoilage of refrigerated and frozen goods. Death will be everywhere and people won’t bury their dead so we will have a major issue on our hands (cholera to name one). People will then try and feast on those animals that are feasting on the dead… dysentery, etc…

If that is not bad enough there will be a lot of looting, pillaging, raping etc… and again not the kind of world I need to prep for because I would rather go meet my maker than stick around to see the Walking Dead in person

Dr_Pain Well, I see your point. If we reach “the end times” and Jesus comes the second time, I don’t need to worry about anything. I know exactly where I will be, and that is a much better place then I could imagine. The items I have can go to someone else.

If we just hit hard times, that I can prepare for. Water - I have a well and can supply my own. Refrigeration, well, I can things for both convenience and long term storage. Law and order, well it’s not as if we really have than now, but if it were to get worst, I have my 357 and not afraid to use it. I figure that if it got bad enough, I could feed a couple of families in exchange for ‘protection’. Medical, well between my wife and I, we can handle many minor things. I have a good source of fuel and keeps a few spare sharp chains for the chainsaw. I know how to produce hardwood coal, so no problem smoking meat. I keep an extra year of seed for gardening of our food, have a source of honey, and fruit trees to live well on. Only thing I don’t know how to overcome is A/C, might just get warm in the summer.

I don’t go to extremes, just rotate a bit of overstock. As of the last year, it has served to feed people who were hit with hardships and served people of need.

Chef I completely agree with what you are saying. I am able to forage and able to hunt. I have cooked using advanced gastronomical techniques but also have done the primitive cooking stuff. I have a small arsenal and very proficient in hand to hand combat. As for medical knowledge, I don’t need google to treat, stitch, or even perform surgery. If you ask my friends they would say that they will find me in case the doodoo happens HOWEVER my point remains “why prolong the inevitable!?!” I could live a year alone without batting an eye, but why!?! I could make 5 years with some help from my friends, but why?!?

Dr_Pain Okay, I know we have a lot of fun here, but here’s a serious answer to why - To help others in need. If I’m blessed with waking up, then He has something else for me to do.

I knew there was a reason I liked you Chef. Although I play devil’s advocate on many subject, my true position reflects yours. If I am blessed enough to be given another day then I should make the best use of the gifts that He has given me.
