Another fire started early yesterday. This one centers around Granby Colorado and our Mountain town of Estes Park. Our world renowned Rocky Mountain National Park is now burning and the Towns of Granby, Grand Lake and Estes Park have now been completely evacuated. Several homes lost and 5 unaccounted for thus far.
This fire grew faster than any fire in Colorado history, surging to 170000 acres in a matter of 15 hours.
There are predominately Beetle kill trees in that area which go up like matches.
Anyway here is the latest update.

Just Terrible - Snow is in the forecast for Sunday

lkrfletcher How close is this to you? Any potential threat to you? I’ll continue keeping this in prayer for the safety of people, firefighters and a successful containment of this fire.

This latest one is no threat to me. 2 of my co workers had to evacuate yesterday. They had 15 minutes to grab what they could as fire approached the west side of the town. One said his home would not survive without the snow. I guess it is right up in the trees.

lkrfletcher wishing you some heavy wet snow your way. The landscape will look horrible for awhile, but nature has a way of reclaiming what it destroyed. It will be sad for those that lose their homes and possessions. I have done a bit of flying out that way, pretty country. Stay safe out there. BIA.

That sucks, I hunted up area 7 and 8 for lots years, north of camerman pass. Sorry to see but always wandered when that Granby area was going up. I flew out of DIA for a long time that area was all dead looking even 6-7 years ago.

Much of grand lake was lost, but it is snowing now, hopefully that helps the fire fighters out.
