Then I guess I’ll have to get one for the house. I purchased this bottle for a very good friend that does me well as I also do for him. But he has the channels for the marine industry that can save me a bit of cash and I wish to reciprocate.

So I went on a whim based off the store managers suggestion.

Could I have done better?? I’m asking for the next time.

Denny O bourbon and whiskey in general is a lot like sausage. There are alot of different flavors and I’m sure just as many opinions as to which one’s are better. At the end of the day, it’s all a matter of personal preference. There are some really high priced bourbons I consider a waste of money. There are some less expensive ones that I personally prefer and taste a ton better than their more pricey counter parts. If you are looking for consistency in taste, then blended whiskeys and some small batches with good quality control are a great choice. When you get into single barrels, the taste can change quite a bit from batch to batch. I have had some higher priced single barrels that one bottle was good, but the next bottle from a different batch (barrel) I ended up using for mixed drinks.
Having said that, the Michter’s you have there is a good pour. There are plenty other labels out there that are really great pours also. You definitely did good with that bottle in my humble opinion.

Denny O Well, well, well. It appears from the people who responded that you struck it rich on your choice. As a vintner once said: “There’s a reason why there’s soooo many choices of wine and spirits on the shelves”. It all comes down to one’s pallette on any given day. Believe in you local merchant if you don’t have the experience to select. I believe the recipient will rejoice and hopefully share it with others. Have another great day.

Both of my sons were at the house this evening. We were setting on the patio watching the sun set when my lovely wife suggested I make some Irish coffee to take the chill out of the air. The whipped cream was left over from a homemade Strawberry cake my youngest made his Mom yesterday. Life is good.

GWG8541 Looks like a nice plan to have. We have no sunset, I could watch the passing downpour and enjoy the 50 degree evening here. It’s cooling off fast with the rain. Hopefully we’ll see some sun later in the week. Life in the NW.

GWG8541 I thought we were going to be sunny, but the black clouds rolled in around noon and its been downpours on and off all afternoon. I see the sun now, but it’s black in the SW which means rain coming in off the coast.

Both of my sons were at the house this evening. We were setting on the patio watching the sun set when my lovely wife suggested I make some Irish coffee to take the chill out of the air. The whipped cream was left over from a homemade Strawberry cake my youngest made his Mom yesterday. Life is good.

PapaSop I was just gifted a Sazerac Rye whiskey 90 proof from one of my girl buds and had it neat. I normally do not appreciate too many ryes. But, this one hit the old taste buds very nicely. It was one that I just sat back and enjoyed sipping. Shame on me!!!
