Hello, wondering how many out there use a salt slab when cooking meat? I have done it several times but I always forget about using it.I’m planning on doing a ribeye on one and one on my Grillgrates just to see if there is much difference in flavor. I do love using it for is to get it super cold and serve cheese and salmon on it. Does make a great presentation. Thoughts?

I have one, have only used it a couple times. I think it’s more gimmick then anything. I’d say if it were such a great thing you would see a whole lot more YouTube videos of people using them.

Stats77 I’ve always been curious about them but never got around to using one.

Joe Hell I have to agree with Tex_77 it s a gimmick. Cool concept, gets super hot and it doesn’t impart the salt into the meat. Takes forever to get hot and it’s small. I’ll stick with my grill grates, I just flip them over to sear on the flat side, works great. Oh…and it only took a month or so until it cracked. Too much thermo cycling did it in.

Parksider the Grillgrates? Yea I fed use them all the time. I bought the griddle as well so pretty much breakfast lunch and dinner can all be done outside. Plus the griddle is awesome at thawing meat. I’ve had my grill grates for about two years. I havnt had any issues. Yea the salt block def does get hot but takes along time. I’ll prob just keep it clean and use it as a servicing tray for meats and cheese

Stats77 I’m assuming you are asking what are grill grates.

Stats77 It’s fairly cool to do and it does impart a salty flavor but all in all I think a screaming hot cast iron pan or grill is better. Biggest issue with it (in my mind) is to get your slab up to temp without risking cracking it takes a long time.
