Sometimes you just need to fry bacon.

YooperDog I’m normally not a fruit in your beer guy, but I do like this one. A friend who grew up in Wisconsin got me hooked on Leinenkugel’s about 25 years ago. My favorite was their doppleboch “Big Butt”. It had two Rams butting each other on the label. They discontinued it, but did bring it back for a short time a few years ago. Word of advise if it comes back. Don’t bring it home and tell your wife “look honey they named a beer after you.” It did not work out too well for me.

GWG8541 I will take that advice for sure. The shandy reminds me of a beer in Germany called a raddler. It was a wheat beer that they mixed in lemonade. There was another, but not to fond of it, a wheat beer mixed with coke if I remember correctly. Nothing like hearing a bunch of German party goers singing the song Alice with a raddler in hand. I think JoeB or maybe Dave in AZ can correct me. I am pretty sure they both served some time in Deutschland.

The radler wasn’t the only beer-cocktail in Germany.
I remember seeing patrons order an altbier with a dash of raspberry syrup mixed in it. It probably had a name, but I never tried it or learned the name. The altbier was pretty good straight up.

YooperDog Ah, I remember those! In fact, the radler is making a showing here now, I saw Grapefruit radler by TWO brewers at regular old Safeway recently! I bought both 6 packs because I like that red grapefruit carbonated water, and my wife likes shandy. They were pretty good!
processhead I always liked altbier, seem to recall it was mostly around Koln, maybe Koblenz? Either that or up near Dusseldorf I also went a lot.
Can’t recall for sure. But I did see them put various syrup like raspberry in beer, thiugh never tried myself. However, I am all in favor of beer experiments! 😉

Bought some seasoned deli sliced beef roast at a meat retailer store and 12 lbs of it at a discounted price. Decided to see how it would do as a Philly cheese steak! It was darn good! 20220502_181717.jpg 20220502_181728.jpg 20220502_184032.jpg

Made the wife some beef pineapple snack sticks. She like some that we buy when we go down to the ocean but wasn’t happy with the ones we bought he a couple of weeks ago. I told her I could make them, so I did. Used ground beef 80/20, Landjaeger seasoning, a 20 ounces can of pineapple and the juice and brown and maple sugar, along with some sure gel and sure cure and hickory smoke powder. Processed them in the convention oven at 190 degrees while I put 21 lbs. of pork butt through the grinder so that I can make up some Landjaegers, Supreme pizza and Jerry’s brats and a couple batches of maple breakfast sausageIMG_0402.JPG

Used ground beef 80/20, Landjaeger seasoning, a 20 ounces can of pineapple and the juice and brown and maple sugar, along with some sure gel and sure cure and hickory smoke powder. Processed them in the convention oven at 190 degrees while I put 21 lbs. of pork butt through the grinder so that I can make up some Landjaegers, Supreme pizza and Jerry’s brats and a couple batches of maple breakfast sausageIMG_0402.JPG

glen very happy with them, she did ask if I could add more pineapple for further flavor enhancement.
