Saw the pic above about stuffed cabbage/pigs in a blanket/golumpki and felt like having it. Went to work and someone was talking about it and the next day someone had it for lunch. Took that as a sign and made some of my own today.Surg Those look great. I like mine with a tomato based sauce on top as well. Enjoy those!

I made some ham and beans with cornbread for dinner. I actually started the night before last after cutting up a few pork shoulders to make sausage with. I put the bones in a stock pot with water and simmered it overnight to make bone broth.

Soaked cranberry beans overnight last night.

Diced up a pound of smoked ham

Sautéed some diced onion and put everything in a pot to cook a few hours and made some cornbread in the CI.

The wife said it was one of the best batches I’ve made. That bone broth from the pork shoulder definitely makes a big difference. Its right up there with using a ham bone.GWG8541 Great looking ham and beans. I have a couple ham bones in the freezer, so think I’ll give you method a try. The cornbread looks fantastic. Love it in cast iron.

kyle its pretty easy. I’ve seen it made many ways with various recipes. Like most food and drink it comes down to personal preference. I prefer plain corn bread for soups and stews without adding other ingredients like jalapenos and or cheese. I do like adding stuff if it is more of a side to be eaten on its own. My biggest personal preference is making it in a CI skillet vs a baking dish. I prefer the nice browned crust instead of the cake like texture. If you like ill send the recipe I use.

GWG8541 I like the skillet idea.
We used to make corn bread in a cast iron which had small corn ear shapes molded into it.
Got some of that crust and was great for plating -

Got some of that crust and was great for platingglen those CI little corn molds are great too. They are also convenient if you are making them for get togethers and want individual portions. That is one piece of CI my Mom had that I don’t have. I believe my sister wanted it for a wall decoration.

HerbcoFood pizza is a favorite of mine when my wife makes homemade pizza she makes two allso one for me even tho it is not good for me to eat that much she knows I will and what is leftover well that is for breakfast
gus4416 Yeah we don’t make it very often, I was more sad I couldn’t find the frozen pizza dough we usually get. I really don’t care for the pilsbury stuff, so I settled for the pre-made stuff you find on the pasta aisle. It wasn’t the best, but I’ve had worse.

Yesterday morning: ham egg and cheese sliders using Hawaiian rolls. There is a cream cheese and Dijon mustard spread on the sandwiches. The eggs are from our ducks. Wish I could say the same about our ham but that’s from the deli. The wife found this recipe. Simple to put together and tasty.

HerbcoFood If those are your basics, I’m tuning in on Fat Tuesday. Can’t wait to see the upgraded pizza. I’d devour those.
