processhead I’m hoping. Im heading out Monday to try and find a deer that wants to reside in my freezer. If I don’t find a bigger smoker soon, I’ll probably start trying to put one together based on your post that was a great tutorial.

I’m expecting delivery on my new Walton’s 11lb stuffer tomorrow as part of my Christmas present to myself from my lovely wife. I have been eyeballing a bigger grinder and a real slicer to upgrade my current ones. Well, today was a good day of shopping. I was talking to a coworker about hunting and meat processing and mentioned I was looking for a new grinder. He informed me he had seen one in a pawn shop looking at guns. I explained that I didn’t really want a new one and he told me it was brand new. So I went to the pawn shop just to check and what do you know. It was an older model Cabela’s #8 commercial grade, brand new in the box. The protective film was still on the metal and the box had the original packing tape on it. I paid 200 out the door after opening it and making sure it fired up.

So then I came home and looked on Marketplace just to see if there were any PK100 smokers out there. There were none of them, but I did see this old beauty. A Hobart HS6N slicer. I contacted the guy and offered 250 if it worked. He agreed and I now own a beast of a slicer.

GWG8541 I got the same exact grinder in the #22 1hp model darn near unstoppable when grinding frozen fats and partially frozen meats. Only a handful of times I had the auger stop on too big of chunk of frozen fat. Just went in at the wrong angle. Hit reverse then forward and away it chewed it up like nothing.

I have the same grinder in the #12 size. It is a beast. Like it even more than the #22 cabelas carnivore. And yes, the old cabelas units were made by weston.

So I have the #22 model, does anyone know if it will hook to the Walton 50lb mixer or if there’s a compatible adapter?

FatMac_1186 I have done lots of research on the subject and found that the cabelas mixers will work on the new carnivore and old (Weston) cabelas branded grinders. I have the same grinder as you but in a #12 size. It fits the cabelas mixer fine.
The issue with grinder to mixer comparability isnt the splined shaft, most are 3/4"x6 spline, but is the size of the opening where you bolt the grinder housing to. LEM, waltons, lincoln outfitters seem to be all the same and the cabelas/weston butcher series are the odd man out. BTW, I love my 50lb cabelas mixer but they can be very hard to find. Noone makes adapters that I could find.
