Okay guys, Don’t hang me form the nearest tree, but I have a Bride that has several people coming to her reception who don’t eat meat and would like alternatives to real sausage.

Does anyone have a good recipe for vegan or vegetarian sausage they would recommend?

      Thanks

YooperDog Thanks. I have their big green bible, but didn’t know about this one. Got it ordered.

Would still like to hear from anyone who has made or tasted some.

Chef The Funky Art Cafe in Brenham actually makes a really good pumpkin patty, they put it on a salad and a burger. If you have time you may want to run up there and eat it to see if you can pick out what is in it.

HerbcoFood Looks interesting. Only a bit from me, so I’ll bring the wife there for lunch. Thanks for the recommendation.

Chef Their soups there are also good, it get’s pretty crowded for lunch, so when you do plan to go get there early.

calldoctoday I really don’t know how long that place has been there, but the city cleaned up downtown from what I was told when I first started working there. But apparently it was pretty rundown but now it’s cleaned up and busy as ever if you go on the weekends.

Chef Let us know if you figure out what is in it, not sure if it is for me but hey you never know. Dad always said you have to at least try it, found out I liked a lot of things I don’t think I would have tried.

“Home Sausage Making” by Susan Mahnke Perry and Charles G. Reavis has a whole (very short) chapter on vegetarian sausage making. Some of them do sound interesting. Black Bean and smoked corn sausage, Spicy Tempeh sausage, Apple tofu sausage, and Portabello sausage among others.
