One of my favorite fall drinks. I heat some fresh apple cider and mull with some spices (ussually allspice, nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon). Mix about 2 parts cider with 1 part Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire cinnamon whiskey. I mixed a few of these camping with just the cider, whiskey and a cinnamon stick and it was great. I’ve done them as a cold drink also. I do not use or drink Fireball since it is way to sweet for my taste.

GWG8541 What a fantastic mix to sit around a fire and enjoy. I can totally see it cold or warm.

PapaSop Have had the tin cup. But, not the straight Rye. You’re correct that it’s good to “know” peeps.

A patient of mine challenged me to start experiencing locally distilled whiskey so I purchased

Not my picture but I have not tried it yet. I was just told that one of the local attorney started a distillery and has a product I needed to try. I’ll let you know how it comes out
Dr_Pain We have to do a few hotels in New Orleans next week, maybe we need to try & secure some of this too.

Surg Just purchased Rebel 80 proof and if I didn’t know the price, would’ve thought it was a pretty darn good 80 proof bourbon. I bought the 80 proof because 3-4 guys I share with like that proof more than the 100+ bottles. I grabbed it from the shelf and my eyes popped when a 16.99 + tax came up on the register.

I get into some rabbit holes on YouTube, but this one is funny, he tastes these bourbons for the first time and his descriptions are funny.

The real “benchmark” would be if he would mix some high priced and low priced together in a “blind” tasting and then “taste”. Our group has found that real “blind” tastings are the best and many times, the lower priced models beat the higher priced. Thanks for the link. It’s entertaining for a noon review on a Friday.

zbigjeff Yeah those blind tastes need to happen more often, then you’d see a lot of the highly sought after bottles actually collect dust on the shelf in stores. I think too many people don’t want to sit back and trust their own taste buds, they rely on some guy who drinks various amounts of bourbon.

zbigjeff & herbcoFood I agree totally, blind and going back in a week or so and repeat
I did a blind test of 5 whiskeys a few years ago. first round chilled neat, second round with a tsp. of coke per 1.5oz shot.
My order of preference first to last was exactly reversed -

My order of preference first to last was exactly reversedglen A buddy did a random blind taste test a few weeks ago and this was his ranking of what they tried.
- Rich & Rare
- Buffalo Trace
- Makers Mark
- Weller SR
So weird things can happen.

Tried a new drink I saw using bourbon, lemon juice, and a bit of maple syrup. Came out pretty good. A little sweet but nothing adding more bourbon can’t fix. 🤪
