PapaSop I for one would never blame anyone for taking all the deer they can use. Everyones needs are different. I just can’t stand the ones that waist them just for the sake of killing. My grandfather would never kill a doe. Some people tried to convince him it was good for the deer herd. His response was so if I kill some of my cows does that mean I’m going to have more calves.

cdavis Actually understanding carrying capacity will tell you, yes shoot does. Just like a rancher, the amount of land and ability to afford supplemental feed tells you how many cattle you can have. Having more cattle than you can afford to feed will result in an unhealthy herd. Same goes for wildlife, the more mouths and less food to eat the weaker the deer are.

Washington you get only one Buck tag then they have antler restrictions too, you might be lucky to draw a doe tag. They just reported a whitetail die off due to hot weather issues from this last summer and disease related to the contaminated water sources. Winter will take care of the bug problems with the first freeze. We are suppose to get snow above 6000 ft. on Friday and Saturday.

Fall is coming fast here in Western Washington. Temperatures in the morning are falling. This morning we had 36 degree’s, it won’t be long before we get a frost that take out the garden. My tomato plants are already telling me they are done for the season.

Here in NM it still gets hot during the day but the nights and mornings are cooling down nicely. Hopefully the days will also stay cooler. It is a great time in NM, you can drive around and smell green chile roasting all over.

craigrice we still have some green tomatoes left on the vine, not many. The pepper plant is confused, I saw blooms on one plant this morning. The weather is really weird today with a warm front proceeding the cold front. 69 degrees here at almost 8 PM, we have had 30 mph wind gusts and the rain stopped which means the cold front is on its way.

There is an actual chance of the low’s getting into the 50’s here next week. Which for the part of Texas I’m in I can’t ever remember it getting that cool in September, my blood is flowing in excitement…

The cold front rolled through, power was out for about 6 hours after the winds started blowing again and we ended up with lightning just after 10 PM. We had a little over an inch of rain in the overnight hours. With our lack of rain, wind and leaves still on the trees, it brought a lot of dead branches down. Will have some clean up when the rain stops later today, not to much, I cut most of my big pines down a couple of years ago.
