I know Memorial Day has different meanings to different people. For some of us, it is a time we honor those who have paid the ultimate price in service to their country. This affects everyone in various ways, so during this weekend be mindful of what tomorrow is really about. I choose to reflect during the day in as happy of a celebration as possible, while remembering those lost. I am certain that those who gave the last measure would not want us to be sad while remembering them on this solemn day. So I believe you should be gathered with family and friends and keeping them close. Just take a moment to remember what the day is truly about. To all of my brothers and sisters on this wonderful site who have served in our Military, I pray you remember our comrades who have paid that ultimate price in a happy memory. For those of you who have lost a friend or family member in service to our country, I hope the happy memories fill your heart. I am sure this is what they would want for each of us. I truly hope each of you have a blessed Memorial Day.

        Thanks to all who served

GWG8541 I couldn’t agree more…my Grandfather paid the ultimate price while serving in the British Army during the last few months of WWII, liberating the country of Greece…I think about him often and would have loved to met him…because of his service and those of countless others, we are able to enjoy the freedoms we have today !!

GWG8541 I’m not much of a history guy so I really don’t know much about wars. My dad served in Vietnam and he doesn’t talk an ounce of it, although this day isn’t about him as he survived it.

twilliams tell your dad thanks from an old Jarhead. I can say that out of all of our countries wartime history, our Nam vets got a piss poor home coming. I have nothing but admiration and respect for them.

Today is a day of reflection. I think hard about those shipmates if mine that were lost during my 26year oath. But really it’s about all the losses in the name of freedom. Never forget.

I think about my father and brother, my dad was deployed to Vietnam and my brother who joined while he was in college. I do know this, I wouldn’t be who I am without a strong military influence growing up. So, today I hope everyone appreciates their freedoms, cause plenty of people sacrificed their lives so we can have them!
