Retired from the US Navy in 1997. Moved back to my hometown and owned a propane business. Served as Fire Chief until December 31st when I retired. Still maintain my EMT license but trying to cut down on number of calls. Great to see so much diversity on here. Glad I found Walton’s recently. Enjoy everyone’s comments/advice/recipes.

To all our veterans, you have my admiration, respect and thanks
Worked for 2 companies in a 48 year career.
Tech support, sales and management for installation and maintenance of fire alarm, telecom, datacom and fiber optic infrastructure.
Repaired equipment that had little or no local repair support ranging from employee punch clocks to commercial microwave ovens and once a CT Scanner arm a guy brought in and about everything in between LOL

I’m always curious what everyone does for a profession in these groups. It is always cool to see how diverse we are. I am a State Trooper and have been since 2007. Prior to that I worked many years in home construction and taught second grade right out of college.

@ndmike im an uneducated highschool drop out working as a maintenance technician at a semi trailer manufacturer. Dealing with 24-480 volts single and 3 phase, PLC, pneumatic and hydrualic tooling, 100TON-600TON presses, robotic welding systems as well as portable, epoxy primer and urethane electrostatic paint application systems and any other little stuff that comes up on a daily basis. Been there 27 years. Been in maintenance for 9 years. Started out painting and blasting, then when into production management but with the last slow period in 2007-2009 there were several that were let go and demoted. I was demoted back to paint and later promoted to maintenance…a definite win for me.

wdaly i was on the local fire dept for 7 years, firefighter 1, 2 and MPO. As well as some other certifications. I miss it, life just got too busy having to have 2 jobs to make ends meet. I made the sacrifice to resign so someone else could give the time it takes for a position like that.

Joe Hell my mind isnt the sharpest and i have trouble retaining subjects im not interested in. Primarily history is my worst, math is second. I didnt apply myself like i should have but im doing real good in life for not having a diploma. I have been working since i was 12 years old, now 47 and i just wanted to get out in the adult world and start making money. I am not a morning person and had trouble forcing myself to get out of bed to go to school. The principal warned me if i was tardy one more time he was ejecting me out , i said ok. Well the next morning he was waiting for me at the entrance. We went and signed exit papers, i went right to my employer and told them i could go full time so they put me as a full time employee. The ironic thing is i now work first shift, all to please my wife. It kills me waking up at 4 but i have had perfect attendance for the last 15 years straight.
