Drink of Choice

badfire2625 Never had the “coffee or die”. Local craft beer?
-
zbigjeff coffee or die? …not exactly a stretch for some folks! Lol. When it comes to caffeine I’m a take it or leave it type. I just need something wet to quench my thirst
Joe Hell Coffee is not for everyone. In my world, I treat it as a delicacy and have around 2 cups in the morning to ease into the day. I roast 50% of my intake and try different beans from around the world. This week it’s Tanzanian Peaberry (dark roast) and Ethiopian Yirgacheffe (medium roast). Like different culinary foods, each has their “certain” qualities. Then, I move to a Lake Erie highball (aka: water) and then either wine, beer or bourbon OR… in the late-afternoon/evening while designing what’s for dinner. Hoping you have a good rest of your day.

badfire2625 Darn, did I read that one wrong. Thinking I need a long pour to straighten my eyes out. Yikes!!!
zbigjeff Still sounds like a good Porter Or Stout name. Even the Black Rifle Company sounds like a go. Either way, looks good.

Black rifle is vet owned and proceeds go to vets I believe,…

I’m an Irish Whiskey guy personally. Yellow Spot or Redbreast if I have it… Tullamore DEW most often…
Good stuffStanct58 Those are alllll gooood choices (Redbreast, Yellow Spot, Tullamore Dew). Also, the Jamison Cask bottles (IPA and Stout) and Black are really smooth. Always mix it up with many bourbons and scotches. Like to keep the taste buds rockin’.

So, a loooong time ago when Austin and I looked like fresh faced teenagers we did a Will it BBQ episode where we Smoked coffee and OH MY GOD WAS IT BAD. 2nd worst thing I have ever tried and not far off from that #1 spot. However, it has been pointed out to us countless times that we did it wrong and someone here smoked coffee beans and we tried it that way. We might bring back coffee for a will it bbq to report the results on this
-
@s-a-m Sure wish I could find some around here then.

Jonathon Well, I have never tried actually smoking the beans, but I have tried incorporating coffee grounds (espresso grind or finer) into some homemade rubs & seasonings for beef as well as a little extra for some smoke & always thought it was pretty good. I would like to find out about roasting your own though.

calldoctoday It’s all about knowing your audience. If they’re not a coffee drinker or don’t like the smell or taste, I don’t waste the goodness on them.

calldoctoday A little coffee in a beef rub can do wonders for flavor.

zbigjeff That makes perfect sense.

Tex_77 Haven’t had that one in a while. I remember the old days when it was a big, big, big deal to get it east of the Mississippi & we made a big deal out of it. Then when I would go west, it did not seem as big of a deal. We went to their brewery while in Co one time on assignment & tried some other interesting things they do for locals only.

Tex_77 Agreed, 110%

Tex_77 Yeah, I’ve done it a time or two. Can add a nice flavor but you know how I prefer them!
