Hog ring pliers 2

I see Waltons has the hog ring pliers on sale. Are these the same pliers that many are having problems with getting tight? Has this issue been solved?
I hate to bring up negatives but I’ve been interested in these pliers for some time -

I hate to bring up negatives but I’ve been interested in these pliers for some timeglen wondering the exact same thing.

Mine stuck and didnt move the next ring into place. Added a tiny amount of oil to the slide and it works much better

Yes, the problem seems to be that they use a 3/8” ring, which is to big for most everything I have used them on. The best way I get them to work is use a pair of vise gripes after I crimp them to tighten it.
-
The other problem I have with them is the trail end of the ring sticks up at an angle and pokes a hole in the bag or casing.

I bought the regular/cheap pliers from Walton and they worked great. Saves ya some money too!
