Well I’m a lot more stupid then i look. the vp215 has some good reviews. Price i saw was around a $1k the vp220 apx $1350 but i understand the dry pump is loud. My Weston 2300 dry pump is sort of loud but not annoying

Most of the VP220 are out of stock, so are the VP 215 if you go searching for them. They are shipped from China, so you can understand why. The VP220 is about $50 more than the VP215.

JoeB Check the WebstaurantStore for pricing, they are out of stock too, but $1049 and free shipping. Google that name or VP220 and then follow their link

JoeB I would still choose the VP215, I paid $999. The chamber is taller, 5" compared to 3.5". Yes the warranty might be nice, but I can fix most anything that might break after the 1 year warranty, plus they offered a five year warranty for an extra $140 from the WebstaurantStore if you wanted to purchase it.

All very good points. As you might guess. I know a lot about sausage making. But nothing about VAC chambers. Never saw one in person. I stand corrected. Had a relationship like that once😇

JoeB They are a real game changer and a whole different operation. They a definitely not like the foodsaver. They take a bit longer and the first time you use it, you wonder if it is really working, then poof it seals. The sticker shock is what kills you at first, but after you figure out what you have spent on bags and vacuum machines over the years, it makes sense. One example 1000 10"x13" bags for Chamber Sealer from Waltons $75, 100 8"x12" vacuum sealer bags $22, it adds up quick. And if you were buying a quality vacuum sealer, they weren’t cheap either.

johnsbrewhouse Thanks, i have a Weston 2300, they’re not cheap. Worked well for the last 10ys Just blew out a heating element yesterday in the middle of packing 60lbs of sausage. Had to finish it up with a food saver. So now is the time to shop around, and i did order the replacement parts. Just a good excuse for an upgrade.

I just turn down the vacuum time on my chamber sealer to one second when I make custom size bags

JoeB While you can used the textured bags in a chamber vacuum sealer, they are typically more expensive than the non-textured bags.

JoeB The textured external bags work fine in the Vacmaster machines, The VP215 is a lighter machine weight wise. You have to look at what you are going to use it for to justify the cost as well. All the Vacmasters reach the same vacuum rate, some take longer than others. You can only reach a certain amount of absolute vacuum in our atmosphere. Look carefully, most places don’t have them in stock and are taking orders for shipment in April. They are coming from overseas.

                                          I have a VacMaster VP112.
I sometimes use textured bags but had enough tiny seal leaks I quickly double seal with an external sealer, no problem with smooth bags.
Others do not seem to have that problem so it may be that I have slightly defective machine
