Deer Hunting

Just reading this as I’m typing. Story out of Michigan. 545,000 licenses sold as of Nov. 11 nearly 10% more than same time last year. First time licenses in five years , if ever, jumped 80%.
In Wisconsin, archery up 12%, gun sales up 9.5%. Maine reports a state record and Vermont and Nevada double digit increases. If nothing else Covid has gotten people back to the woods. Impressive numbers!

PapaSop YUP! Has people thinking about their food supply which is a very very good thing! I’m not a prepper or anything but I like to have enough meat on hand for 3 months. I have recently increased that slightly! I have my freezer at home full and I have a decent amount in our laydown here. Now, its not all the highest quality meat but it is stuff I will gladly eat over going without!

Wisconsin’s gun deer opens tomorrow morning so up and out early. Where ever you’re at, just want to wish everyone a safe and bountiful harvest this year.

This is one of the things I thought was going to happen when we went into lock down. I also planned on taking 3-4 animals this year and already have a buck and doe and plan on at least one more doe. Hopefully my daughter is able to get a buck this year, we’ll just have to see how things go as the weather has been very erratic this year. It has made hunting very tough so far this year.

Great start. Good for you. Hope your daughter succeeds in getting one. -
Not sure where to post this. Here, what did everyone cook today or chili recipes. Start of good things to come. Annual chili after day one of hunting. Me and my boys and families get together for a chili supper. Hopefully hanging some deer as well.

PapaSop our camp is pretty small. Since dad passed away last October, it’s just 2 of us and my 18 year old son when he dont have school or work. Years past tho we would have up to 25 people night before season for homemade sauerkraut and ribs and various wild game. This year with covid, we feel it’s not worth the risk. I cant wait for “normal” again. Good luck and be safe

Well… An unreal opening day in a way. This is not our norm on the the farmland we hunt.

My son Christopher and his brother Nathan who looks just like him caught these early Saturday morning. Two of the other guys here got these.

This is so not typical of the bucks we see. Usually the small basket in the second pic is more the normal.
Was it just our turn??? I don’t know. Sure was fun. All gotten in a one hour time frame. Made for some good stories and BS over a lunch break.

PapaSop looks like a lot of sausage/sticks/polish/brats…do I need to go on. Nice looking bucks. We are not doing as well as you guys up north. My son got a spike and that’s it so far. I have not even see a deer, but still better than working. Congrats to your crew
