Blackstone Griddle

Austin this is what the user meant by the Blackstone. I use this more than my grill now.

deplorablenc1 Gotcha!
I’ve had a few vendors try to sell us a grill/griddle like this.
Can I ask what you paid for something like that and what you’d consider it to be worth at a good price?Do you use this for grilling most of the time on typical grill items like brats/sausages and hamburgers? Or, what trumps this grill to go back to the “normal” grill?

Austin I bought this at Tractor Supply, I love cooking brats and burgers, sausages etc on it because the meat cooks in it’s own juice. It is a cast iron top so it is pretty indestructible as long as you season it correctly. The one pic, I dice up onions and bacon then mix in shredded cabbage and mix it up. After I cook a steak with sous vide I search them on this as well. There isnt much I haven’t thrown on here, it is easy to clean too.
I got it on clearance for $199. I have never seen them at that price again though. They are always $299 there for the Blackstone brand. I have seen other brands at stores for upper of 399. -
Joe Hell haha, that is a 6 foot metal Tractor Supply chicken!

deplorablenc1 I’d love to take one of those griddles for a spin. I like having many tools for food prep. That would be great for a charred and crusty burger…mom and pop burger stand style. We have a Tractor Supply that opened locally not long ago. I might have to take a look for one.

deplorablenc1 Did no one else notice the green grass! Seriously…Rochester NY is still trapped in the brown grass of early spring, I’m jealous!!!
Austin Need one of those for your new test kitchen!!! Be careful you and Jonathan will be in charge of lunch for the Walton’s family! -

Joe Hell it is the best thing ever! You will not be disappointed in the purchase!

But the grass mowing has been happe ing for a few weeks already. I like keeping mine nice, except when the clover pops, then I like leaving it for the bees for a while.

There is a compnay in Pittsburg, KS that makes griddles for kitchen stoves and grills, Steelmade US link text I got one for Christmas for my stove and love it. The only caveat I would say is, be sure that you have a good vent hood!

We spend about 1/2 the year traveling this great country of ours in our RV and the Blackstone grill is incredible. We have the two burner tabletop model, and we can cook for a lot more folks than us two. Hint: the Blackstone has an H shaped burner, the cheaper ones have an I shaped burner. The cheap models will have hot and cold spots. The Blackstone pretty much has even heat unless it’s windy. There is a gap between the grill and the burners so one has to keep that in consideration when cooking. I built some aluminum z bar wind deflectors to help with the wind but keep in mind the bottom is open so a lot of heat goes down. Don’t cook on a plastic table. Don’t ask me how I know this… That being said, getting the griddle seasoned seems to be a challenge for some, but is really easy. It takes awhile when first buying one, but it lasts a lifetime as long as you don’t try to run it in the dishwasher. Fry some bacon, or use some veggi oil and let it sit on the griddle. It will smoke like crazy. Let it smoke until it quits. Put another layer of oil on it and let it smoke until done. Repeat all afternoon until the griddle is a dark black, and your done! We have a factory cloth top for ours and sometimes forget to leave it on when cooling and then get a rain during the night. No rust, and just fire up the griddle and let it steam the water off. There is a little tray and opening in the back to scrape off excess oil, water, bits of cooked stuff, etc. I also recommend buying the Blackstone griddle set of tools including the 12" dome. Break three/four extra large eggs next to each other, let them set for a minute, then squirt some water from the bottles and put the dome on top. Instant perfect eggs with a hard white and a runny yoke. I can’t heap enough praise on the Blackstone Griddle.

Austin I would’ve posted a picture sooner to show you what a Blackstone griddle looked like. Love it because it complements my other outdoor tools.

Joe Hell I’ve got my eye on 2 more “tools” that I have to convince someone we really need. A Lone Star Grilz 24" vertical offset & Rec Tecs new Wyldside grill.

Amazing view! In good weather, you can sunbathe and grill at the same time, these are my favorite pastimes

In the photo, the simple cooking options that I also used are not exactly the same, but similar. Now I switched to heavy artillery. Here are some interesting model options https://grillguru.org/best-tailgate-grill/ if you want to update your cooking methods. At the moment, I myself use this model Coleman RoadTrip 285.

macsinsac The guy who built my house has a rec tec and he loves it. I’ve cooked on it a time or two and didnt notice a difference in the amount of smoke it puts out vs my GMG but it has nicer bells and whistles. Now, the new Prime GMGs seem to have the same options/functions but my old one only goes to 500° and isn’t even WIFI…seriously guys it’s like I am being tortured with my “old” pellet combo, pray for me!
