Dodge set a record for the warmest low temp on Monday of 83, breaking the previous record which went back to 1978. I think that was a large part of the issue, it just never cooled off at night.

According to the NWS out of Dodge City, the smokey haze that can be seen in the air this morning across a large swath of Kansas up into Nebraska is a result of this fire spreading rapidly yesterday and send up large smoke plumes. According the NWS this fire has been burning since April.In the last week we have also lost a couple of big names in Western Sports/lifestyle industry:

Yes they do, but not to this number and usually due to other issues like new arrivals from shipping fever and other stress aliments. I’m very suspect of this particular incident, but I’ll let that go for another day.

mrobisr I read an interesting article about the conditions creating a " perfect storm" to stress the cattle.
I agree these numbers are higher than any I have seen in the past
